Well we were running neck and neck up Illinois 3 for about 5 miles so I think he left the lot like that. After that I took off and left him.

I still haven’t figured out what this guy was doing. He untarped and mostly unchained this load of coils. Pulled out of his spot, did two laps around the truck stop, and backed back into the same spot.

A couple stories about tarping....
We used to haul 5/4 shop from Pilot Rock OR down to a Pella window plant in SLC. No matter the weather it had to be tarped, I understood why in the winter but didn’t get why when it was summer. But I never questioned it, I just did what they requested.
They would check the load with a moisture tester before they’d unload you. Well one day a guy from WA pulled in with no tarps, had bugs all over the front because it was stacked high. They pulled a few units off and checked them. Moisture was too low and many of the boards were cracked because he basically air dried the lumber for 1000 miles. I’m not sure the outcome other than it got loaded back on his trailer.
We used to haul superbags of fine salt to a chemical plant that had to be tarped because even moisture from the morning dew would put a crust on the top.
Sometimes when it seems pointless to tarp they usually have their reasons. Other than the brokers telling people to tarp everything. Lol.PoleCrusher, D.Tibbitt, Tug Toy and 4 others Thank this. -

Well this has been a week from hell.
Thursday I beheaded a deer in WY. ####### busted my hood and killed my APU.
Today I took on my first oversize load.
124" wide air compressor going to Korea.
Picked up in Houston, and made it all of 17 miles when some MFer comes up the shoulder and cuts in front of me. I hit the brakes and the load shifted. Problem is the tie downs are so close to the deck, she has no bite. Left rear spool is GONE, no where to be found. Right rear cracked but held and it slid a foot forward and rotated... $800 wrecker bill... lol I know rookie mistakes are priceless, but can we TRY to keep the cost under control...PoleCrusher, cke, jamespmack and 5 others Thank this. -
