Hello, Newbie who is eager to learn!

Hello from Canada,

Being reading and learning from this amazing site for couple months and finally decided to join you guys.

Tired of seeing my paycheck dissapear after the next second it was deposit in my bank account I decided to quit and changed carrers (14 years shipper and receiver). So this year I went to School and got my trucking lincense.

I already got hired with a good company with good reputation, did my orientation and I just finished my 2 weeks training and next week I have my road test with the safety manager who will decide if I am ready to go solo or not.

If everything goes well I will be doing regional and then training again to do US/Canada flatbed.

I already got some essential items and I being reading a lot here and purchased some books about the trucking business.

Yes I am exited to start this new career, as a Shipper and Receiver for the last decade I was in constant comunication with truck drivers, I heard lots and I mean lots of stories about this trucking industry from them.

I am not looking (for now) to buy my own truck, just want to go out and drive a company truck and learn the ropes and see if I like this new career.

@Velos my underestanding is that the company have different types of rates (per hour or cpm) depending of what I am doing ( shunting, local, long regional, short regional or US/Canada). Some of this jobs are flat rate per trip, flat rate per hour or cents per mile.

In the cents per mile case I got two jobs offers when I was looking for job, one for 52cpm and one for 48cpm. I decided to go with the second one (.48cpm) because my schedule, company reputation, company location and the kind of work/routes was better.
