To be honest, neither the last place I worked for nor the place I currently work for would have given a crap. Get it there.
I give my current place a pass just because I get ample time off, so I should be pretty well-rested.

And most importantly of all, you literally lived through it. Fatigue is no joke.

The bottom line is that we are being dosed with melatonin throughout our shift because we're running in the dark and that's how our bodies work. It often doesn't even matter how well rested you are; the Sandman (or Freddy Krueger, if you prefer) is trying to get ya anyway. As my Dad would say, "it ain't natural!"
Cardfan89, Radman, LtlAnonymous and 1 other person Thank this. -
One night my neighbors dog kept me awake during the day I slept maybe 1-2 hours coming off my last shift. I said screw it I’ll take a big nap on the road. Pulled off napped for only 10 min. I was good for another 250 miles and made the run.De Trucker and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
5-6 hrs of rest a day seems optimal for me. A couple Gatorade zero 20oz and big travel mug of black coffee and I’m good for 550 miles

Further notes:
1) Apparently i was tired----i put one arrow against the wrong total on the last check.
2) Part of that check was 2 nights of niteliner because i had to fill in for someone. i actually enjoy dockwork a little. That being said, if i had to choose, i'd rather drive---or even take a nap.
3) If you're a girl and you want equal pay for less work, or in some cases, more pay for less work, then come on down because we want you; We are on a woman-hire spree here at UPSF.
a) If you're a girl and you want to be a manajerk, then also come on down because we're going out of our way to hire women manajerks. It's a "diversity" thing......
--no experience, no problem
-- no knowledge of trucking or freight, no problem
-- don't get along with others, no problem
--no track record,no problem
NOTE: i've got nothing against diversity, and even look forward to it, IF naturally occurring and for the right reasons. Diversity for the sake of diversity is wrong. More on this later.....dwells40 Thanks this. -
The main point i'm trying to make with the last check is that:
Apparently, i was sleepy without realizing it.
All the other times i microslept was when i KNEW i was tired. Last thursday i felt "fine" or so i thought.
i may have gotten used to feeling perpetually tired. This is/was a very frightening thing.LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
dwells40, McUzi and Bob Dobalina Thank this.
