Mister, you have an almost poetic way with words... And they speak much truth, that will someday soon be lost to this world of incessant rules and regulations.
I too enjoy the pidder-padded of rain on the sleeper. I still get a taste of the old ways of trucking every now and again... With the help of Ag. Exempt miles. A few weeks back I ran most of the afternoon and all through the night for 992 miles in 1 shift. I get similar loads about once every month or 2.
Ive always been of the mind that a dog on a chain is of no use. And has simply become a burden and expense for some one. Id personally rather see a dog put down, over being chained for life. Many of the old timers chise to be "put down" when ELDs came about, and retired... Others broke the chain, and continue to run... At least for a time anyway.
Yes we have been caught up by the winds of progress... And those winds smell of sewage ponds! Progress is not always good...7-UP, MACK E-6, lovesthedrive and 2 others Thank this. -
