Sleeping in your reefer trailer.

Sleeping in your refer isn't really safe, of course. There is always some jerk who will lock you in there. Way back when, while sitting in grain lines we used to sleep in the corn. Grain keeps it's cool well, especially if you burrow in a little bit. There was no worry about idle time, it was just that we only dreamed of working A/C.

 

i've done the refer thing---in a straight truck. You have to make sure the latch (mine was rollup door) is locked in the open position. It's not so much someone would want to lock you in there, but with some people they have a compulsion to close everything neatly----it drives them insane to see something not locked or half-put-away. It's a subconcious, automatic thing. And they might close it not knowing someone was in there.


2) i can't get my stupid hi-idle to work, so i might soak some towels in a bucket of water and try sleeping with them on top of me.

 

Hey man do what you got to do to stay cool. as was said lock you door in the open. Dont want some jerk to lock yoi in there then turn your reefer down to -20.

Also dont let CARB find out your doing that. They will come up with a law that says you cant run your reefer for driver comfort...lol

 

I buy drinking water by the gallons and place them in the trailer to be kept cool. I will also store some food back there. Sleeping in the trailer, well that's not a bad idea, I would too, but my A/C works great in the rig.

 

Tell your company you need a apu (Auxuillary power unit)
