You're new and they aren't going to give you good loads until you prove your worth. I would give it at least 6 months, and talk to your driver manager now about getting more miles. Tell him you can't survive on what they're paying you.

Get a credit card and pay off the school debt, then move on.
Go to your local credit union and talk to someone about that.
Which state and nearest town/city do you live in?FlaSwampRat, Horus and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Ah but the economic circumstances dictate that market value. Can you tell me what the Market value is for a driver? Not what it should be according to you, what it is?
Did you buy the trucks? Set the prices? Buy those handy fuel cards? Negotiate the contracts? How many hands are out there wanting money?
Have you ever invested in stock? Maybe you should ask an investor what they feel Market Value is?
I ask all of this because those are all factors to consider when you feel you've been cheated out of true Market Value. 300 unemployed truck drivers just flooded the trucking market.... what do you think THAT does to Market Value?
If you have to demand a certain amount because YOU feel YOU deserve/are owed that, you already are digging your own grave. You have to Market yourself to increase your Market Value. When you think you're getting the shaft, you walk. A good deal, read the fine print BEFORE you sign... then sign in good faith.
But this idea that I SHOULD be getting X amount? You reap what you sow.
Had this gentleman/gentlewoman done his homework on the company, before the excitement set in that he had gotten hired, he may well have avoided the legalities he is finding himself in.
I have sympathy.... but ninety percent of the holes that are dug for ourselves are dug by us. Maybe the caveat in all of this is that he might be young.... and we all learn when were young.tscottme, Gearjammin' Penguin, Horus and 2 others Thank this. -

Chinatown has the best answer that I've heard yet.... Loan it out, cut your losses, and if its the road you seek, do your homework and find someone who will hire you and won't cheat you.
Horus Thanks this. -

Legionnaires.. three cheers to the Legion!
They make anything awesome. Met a few in my travels as a Ranger... They'll even talk down to France... even the ones who ARE French.
Hey, if the shoe fits the career move..... Go for it. Just remember... that signature. You write it down, you owe them more than what it costs to get out of paying some company for school and expenses!!!Horus, stillwurkin and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
We wrestled with Navy Federal to gain a 20K increase to our Credit we had to show approximately 60000 plus in cash and assets before they raised it.
That was then, currently Im running the opposite, securing my own cards so they will never be declined anywhere.tscottme, stillwurkin and Iowa80 Thank this.
