Clean engine oil only on big end and main bolts. You can locktite the pick up and oil pump bolts if you want to but its not really necessary.

If you are going to roll rods and mains carefully check the bearing numbers. Blow the oil pump apart check end plates and shaft for wear especially the aluminum end plates. Drop all mains down except 2 and 7 this makes it easy to roll the bearings in. Replace all orings on the oil tubes. Apply small amount of silicone in the joints of the pan gaskets and the block where the front and rear cover gaskets touch the oil pan or stiffer plate.

Going to head over to the shop right now, got a new pump so its going in no matter what. Found out the pump thats in there now has all most 1.2mil on it. I dont believe in re using oil pumps EVER I dont care if it only had 500k on it. The only problem I ran into is the tag on the block that said what the rods and mains were turned to is gone
so the only way to tell whats in there is to look I guess. If the pump looks pretty worn out I will just replace it and put the pan back on, I got two loads on monday I cant miss. Im only out 15bucks and a little time if i have to do the bearings later. Thanks for the info guys!!! Happy 4th of july

When was the last time you replaced the crank harmonic balancer? Doesn't effect oil pressure but will keep the crankshaft from cracking/ breaking. I've seen a lot of high mileage (over 800K)'E' model Cats break their crankshaft.

It is apart and the oil pump gears were pitted and worn pretty good and one or the back bushings have a chunk missing, I pulled a main cap and rod cap to see what bearing it has and what they looked like. The bearings dont look bad but I would like to know what they are the #'s dont jive with the new ones I have.
The ones I took out are listed below, can anyone tell me what I have??? was there a # change??

7E 0558 (lower rod)
