Who's best for wanna be's?

From what I have read on all of the posts about all of the different training companies it pretty much a crap shoot either way no matter which one you pick... I have read on here that the best thing to do is to call all of the different ones that you might want to consider and see which offers the things that mean the most to you.. miles/hometime/pay/training etc... If you search through all the threads enough you'll practically find 2 or 3 negatives for every positive for every company.. the negatives could be true or could be that the poster just didn't click with the company and quit or got canned so has a chip on their shoulder..

The option of checking with the local Unemployment office to see about grants etc for training is a good idea then the options of companies opens up a little more...

For me I don't have the assistance option for reschooling and don't have the funds so training school is my only option.. After kicking around ideas for companies for about 6 months (and getting the approval from the wife) I finally opted to put an app. in with Swift beings there is a Terminal about 45 minutes from home and they have the "comfort zones"... I am dying to get back behind the wheel, but at the same time if Swift turns me down (a sad thought) I'll just continue with the normal low paying job I already have until can weasel funding for a refresher course to get my Class-A back and then will look for something local hauling equipment or something...

Really , you worked for Swift and made $1,000 a week . May we ask what you're doing now ? This is the goofiest post I have ever read . There are plenty of rejected wannabes and unemployed experienced drivers ot doing what they set their mind to .

 

Have you looked into Prime. They don't take out loan payments. # 6 mos you owe half; # 13 mos you're clear. One week to get your permit, then on the road with an instructor. Pass your skills test and run team with a trainer for 2-3 mos @600/wk minimum. Go solo or team after that. Might be worth a look for you.

 

If RickG had anything to say about it, there would never be another new driver in the trucking industry.

I wanted to reply to the post and let you know that in many cities there are trucking schools. And there are also special programs that even will help pay for it. Like here in South Dakota, there is a program called, WIA, that pays the 3.5 grand for the trucking course/training. And you get the CDL and before you are done go on a trip with an experienced trucker and get some drive time in as well. And you go through the whole works in the school. WIA is a federal program available to anyone I believe. I have not went through the school yet, as I also just posted recently to the newbie area under wannabe asking some questions, but I was told it's the way to go on the forum post.

He is right, forget about trucking.

 

I was told at trucking school to expect to make about $300.00 a week for the first year.(if you're lucky)
With all of the responsibilities and regulations you have to deal with, that is ridiculous.
