Looks to me like the powers that be are just trying to play the "blame" game. Somebody always has to be at blame even if it's an accident.

Over the years all these rear ender fatality accidents I have read about involved drivers 25-50 years old so I say that age does not play a part.

I know we always circle the wagons for our own, but this gentleman hit those four-wheelers so badly that he was sitting on top of several of them. This isn't a case of "didn't get stopped in time" as if he was trying to get stopped but just didn't have the room. The footage from the scene was just horrific. My heart goes out to those poor people.

Biscuit, I've thought this for a long time.
My ex-father in law, in his early 6o's, was the WORST driver I've ever seen!
And as he aged, it got WORSE.

When I reach "an advanced age", I truly hope that there are some requirements in place to insure that I am a safe driver.
Because, if I think, as my ex father in law did, that "I've been driving for a long time, and other drivers better cater to ME!" (God forbid!)
OR, I simply don't have the capacity to believe that other drivers are better drivers than myself...well, let there be SOME measure to avoid this mind-set.

Lets examine this for a minute........

    Ok, that's enough.
    Let's see....
driver (of any vehicle) plows into the back of stopped traffic.
Yep; the jury is in, it was
    ALL HIS FAULT.

No such thing as "an accident".
    Piss-poor planning....yes.

IMHO, a 76 year old shouldnt be behind the wheel of a Big Rig.

Some people dont know when to quit.

I have always said there is no such thing as an accident. It's called a "Someone f####d up". If you drive by the laws on the road and the laws of the road then there should be nothing wrong. If that guy had looked far enough ahead of him, he would have seen the stopped traffic. At 76 his reaction times are not what they are at 36. I think he is the only cause of this "f### up". So, it is his fault.

I don't think it's "let's get that evil truck driver" I think it's "let's use the legal avenues to punish a negligent action"
truckerdave, are you the Al Sharpton of truck driving? No matter how wrong a driver may have been you defend them?

You have obviously never had a steer tire blowout going down the road. I have and luckily there wasn't anybody in the lane next to me. I've seen wind gust literally pickup a vehicle and move it and the driver have no control. There are such things as accidents. I am not defending this driver he obviously f'ed up for whatever reason, but you can't logically believe that there is no such thing as an accident. I would say the majority of the time your theory of someone f'ed up would be dead on, but accidents do happen due to uncontrollable mechanical failure, mother nature, etc.... Just my .02 cents.
