For the CDL med test you only have to be able to tell the red or green of a traffic light.

I am color blind also but I could see the red green difference well enough to pass.

Your best bet is to ask a Dr that does the DOT physicals..

I spent some time researching your question but couldn’t really find a definitive answer.

Yes, it is legal to drive while colorblind in every state. ... They would not pass the driving test otherwise. Massachusetts is the only state in the US that specifically mentions color vision in its licensing requirements: “Drivers must be able to distinguish between the colors red, green, and amber.”

I could not find color blindness prohibiting CML in the FMCSA searches. The studies done seem to lean toward color blindness not having any significant outcome in accident studies.

If I'm incorrect, please show where its prohibited, but I could find it.

If you can correctly identify the red bar and the green bar on the eye chart, you should be fine.

I am color deficient, different from color blind. Been driving truck for 53 years and never failed a physical. Like others have said, red green and yellow your good to go.

    stillwurkin and TankerYankr Thank this.
