I'd say no matter the cost is a good investment. I've never, thankfully, experienced a runaway and hope to never have to, but all the Paul's trucks had them (expect the one that wouldn't shut off, lol) and knowing it's there was a comfort.BigCam9670, cke, Isafarmboy and 14 others Thank this.

Okay, thanks! It's pretty toasty out right now, I'll look at fixing it later when it cools off. I've got nothing but time now that I'm waiting for a reload till tomorrow.BigCam9670, cke, beastr123 and 13 others Thank this.

I left Philadelphia in a twin screw Shaker few years ago, setup with Hirail wheels and National 14,000 lb lift knuckle boom on the rear. Philly to Jacksonville, Fl to load a over size door striker (3” thick) and about a 12” x 12” bolt to go with it. 2 of each actually. Left Jacksonville and headed to St. Joseph draw bridge in St. Joseph Michagan. They got installed on each end of the draw bridge. As we all know heat causes metal to expand, the sun would get so hot on the south side of the bridge it would expand and curve the ends northward. North side of bridge was always shaded and never flexed like the south side. On hot sunny days the bridge would flex to the point of causing the lift rail sensors to loose contact. Created a lot of problems for the signal department.cke, peterbilt_2005, tony97905 and 20 others Thank this.

Better to blow the motor than the motor along with the entire driveline. I've heard the only good solution is to suffocate it. Short of being able to do that, it's just more costly to risk it.
I've heard a couple stories of guys catching it in time and not twisting their drive shaft up like a Twizler, but that's just it, stories.cke, peterbilt_2005, beastr123 and 13 others Thank this.
