I'll haul out the bathtubs so they can wallow in the heavy sulfur fuel they hate so much. Maybe when they have soaked enough like a good sandwich in gravy, it will get good.

Hahahaha, you'll be trying to charge your electric pos truck in some peelot somewhere along with 150 other people and start frying transformers and there you'll all sit being charged by a giant Cat generator, and that's before the local citizens get pissed because their electric bill doubled 3 times in 6 months and start unplugging your trucks midcharge.

You guys are not taking into account a few reasons this is happening.

    1. Capacity is up.
    2. MC numbers have reached the 7 digits, My MC was in the low 6 digits. This is 18 months ago it was started.
    3. More brokerage firms are coming into the market, and undercutting older brokers, further causing rates to drop because now older brokers need to compete.
    4. Large influx of double brokers setting up offices in other countries. I had brokers from Mexico, Pakistan, and even China contact me.
    5. Tariffs are doing some things as imports are down but American people still buying and population growing. So freight is there.

1 and 5 are important, the others are not so important. Capacity is way way up ... STILL and I hope by the end of next year it will return to some sort of equilibrium.

The Tariffs haven't effected as much as people think, more hype because of the presidential hatred by the media. I went by one of the container distribution centers to drop off paper work and it was full, trucks lined up all over the place and people working. The owner of the place said he expects it to be like this going into the next year.

The places that I load in the Rockies have been going great guns... 0800 to 1700 kind of places are now operating from 0600 to midnight. Granted those places are shipping potatoes, but they are still doing more business than this time last year... Or so it seems to me.

Yes,we all agree it's not the freight......
Something certainly needs to be done though, if you care about your dignity and longevity in this business.
"Waiting" for people to"fall off" isn't good enough, because as they fall, the fmcsa has granted new authorities, just like that.

I'd like to hear some good remedies to fix this, especially those carries with seniority.

    I'll start by saying....
    1. Authorities,(common, contract, broker) should NOT be granted without a permeable business plan in place,(contract,)AND it should cost well over a measly 300 bucks
2.Regulate the industry again....We tried the"free markets" way......Now look what its done to good, honest carriers....Competition is ok for business, but this is out of control.

rank, jamespmack and x1Heavy Thank this.

We don't have the Grid overhead capacity to do it. Will need to bring on what we call Turbos online to peak the power demand if we started charging tens of thousands of trucks 24/7 in every state.

Makes sense, I have been relying on Idaho Russets, PA Snowdens and a few others where possible. this year much more than normal.

I started just to follow this thread but decided to go ahead and comment also. Already some great points made. I hope this thread gains some interests and stays active awhile. I don’t have all the answers, but I know it’s a problem when someone with nothing but goat-herding experience can have their own authority 3 weeks after posting online, “How do I get my CDL and start my own trucking business?”
