    It's outpatient procedure.
Had one in one eye. Doctor removed it and part of the retina. Patched the retina with something from a petri dish I guess.
No discomfort at all. Wore an eye patch for a few days to prevent rubbing the eye in my sleep.
I've always had sensitivity to light, all my life. Night vision is excellent. Have to wear prescription sunglasses even at night.
Wife and I were walking one night in an HOA and in one really dark area I stopped and picked up some coins someone dropped. She still mentions it; "How could you see them in such darkness and wearing sunglasses?" Later I spotted a folded dollar bill under a bush about 2 feet from the edge of the sidewalk. At first she thought I was tricking her and already had the dollar in my hand until she handled it and realized it was a little damp from dew & had some tiny pieces of mulch stuck to it.

Cataracts with surgery etc today done right is a blessing the hope I can tell you is that when you wake up and start working the new eyes you have, you are going to understand that it is truly a glorious world out there. Ive got about 10 years now on one lense and its doing well. Showing it's age but doing well. Other eye will be worked on in time. But not any time soon.

i have had a few friends that had the surgery, it wasn't too long for a recovery.

best of luck, and you KNOW things are great again, when you turn your head to see the tiny-bikini clad girl passing by, and your wife slaps the back of yer head.

HAHAHA. Ex is still giving me a hard time over a gal who was decked out for battle in a red dress at one of our hotel parking lots. It was so out of place.

SLAP! And then about a -10 degree temp inside the home a while.

Red Dress owes me about 4 weeks of loving among other things //sarcasm.

I kept telling her at the time the eyes were good. She didn't believe it.

Good thoughts aside, I recall learning from the good book once upon a childhood that we are to enjoy what we have in our life because the eyes are supposed to stop working and other things as well. We had a Maryland School for the Blind not far from us in Baltimore (Which is still there) which teaches the blind how to function in society.

I will have to get in touch with them and visit sometime> I wondered how a blind person navigates say a flat screen touch phone... The reason we associated with them is because the State is pleased to ship them to the State Deaf school for us to deal with and learn or teach them sign language. You sink or swim by being with deaf people for a while.

    I rather have the surgery.

I'll let you know how it goes. It looks now like it's a couple of months out but I'll post up here again when everything is done.

Thanks to everybody for the replies. It's appreciated.

Be at peace, the doctor knows what needs to be done. And he will fix you right up. If allowed, I'll say a prayer for your success and recovery even though it's down to a relatively routine outpatient situation.

well i dunno..every time i have had to have an operation, they ask me like a gazillion times, why i was there..

i'd of course answer what operation i was to have.

my next operation, no matter what it is for, i'm gonna say.."i'm here for the enlargement operation"

i'll be darned if i continue to get what i'm supposed to get...

I have a lot of faith in Doctors. I've been married to one for over fifty years.

The prayer is optional but if it makes you feel good, go ahead and do it.

I have grown used to the questioning, including the 4 specifiic pain management interrogation panels designed to catch abusers and those who don't have any more meds within 30 days in lies.

I simply pull hearing aid out rattle it, haul out the ginormous notepad from the pocket, click a pen and say write down what you were trying to say please.

THAT cuts down seriously on the stupid questioning.

I don't mind questions. But when they become broken record stupid then I get abrasive. For example.

"What eye are we fixing today?"

    This one. *Points

"That the correct eye to work on today?"

Lady what part of work on this eye don't you understand?

(Don't you understand was the phrase I used most common with dispatchers, traffic mangers and especially cranky dock people. I find it easier to say that and get a result moving forward than to curse them out)

Room chills -50 but I got my peace then.
