Not sure if this is in the right forum or not. I am new to owning my own truck and therefor NEW to being the one buying the parts. I am looking for some advice on a few parts. #1, complete brake parts replacement, #2, gladhand rubbers, #3, flexpipe and clamps. I guess my main question would be, is it better to buy parts from Kenworth or are there aftermarket parts that are just as good for the 3 parts I have mentioned. Flexpipe- stainless or galvanized? I need about 20", should I buy 24" and cut to what I need or is it flexible enough to stretch it the extra couple inches? There are so many different places selling this stuff and like everybody else I want to save money. But at the same time I want to buy quality parts so I am not replacing them more than I need too. Thank you all for any tips. I am sure I will have many more questions for you all.

You can always trim something to snug and be happy. You would have tears if its too short and yea high pricing.

We had one a while ago always breaking his back window with rocks. A good strong set of drive half fenders will stop the rocks and make him happy. It has nothing to do with chrome or style. Any trucker who has played in stone piles will instantly see that as very functional.

Thats all I can think of. Buy what you think will work well, spend a dollar for a quality part. Be very careful when you wade into important stuff. For example there is a Brake purchasing thread that has managed to be very educational. You can benefit greatly. Not always trying to save a dollar, but when something is done right on your rig, shes happy and able to work for a while. Thats a good thing for you.

It’s hard to cut. Need a cutting wheel. Best to get it a little longer, cut right, and don’t cut it down if possible. It’s very hard to stretch, hard enough to bend into shape. It’s expensive everywhere. All dealers are different. Some are known to have better prices, or run specials monthly. I doubt you’re going to save much, shopping around. Still worth a try though. I always shop prices. Some items, have big price differences. I deal with a chrome shop in Mantua Ohio. Best prices I’ve found for exhaust. Bumpers, lights too.

That’s a good point, adding a clamp, to flex pipe, till you can change it, works well. Flat style. Good full round, SS step type when replacing new. Other stuff glad hand rubbers, dirt cheap, brake parts, usually pretty much the same price everywhere. Never hurts to check though. Most kits have new hardware included, some don’t, kits cost extra.

Thank you, I have a cut off wheel. I have only seen them in 12"-18"-24" ect. What about preference between Stainless or galvanized?

Fleetpride is a good place to buy parts. They are located throughout the country.

If you ever get near the Chicagoland/northwest Indiana area PBS truck parts off US20 in Gary has good prices.

Stainless if you plan on keeping it. galvanized is cheaper, but you change it more often.
I always buy it in 10 foot sticks and cut to length, but if you just need a piece or two, every parts house I have dealt with will cut it to match yours.

I have Fleetpride and Freightliner across the street from each other in my area.

i’ll call both to see who has the parts in stock and what price they have them at, nine times out of 10 freightliner has the part and it’s also cheaper than Fleetpride.

Then you've never looked. It is commonly shipped in 25 foot rolls. Any real parts store will cut to the exact length you need. Just make sure the ends are perfectly round, some counter guys don't think when they stick it in the vice to cut it.
