Whats a normal day like for a driver that hauls grain locally? What type of trucks and trailers do they use?

12 hour day, can't keep the inside or outside of your truck clean, pack your lunch and coffee. If your afraid to run hard and heavy your not gonna make any money. Best advise I can give is keep the door shut and the wagon full.

It also depends on if plan on hauling for your local farmers or contract haul for bigger outfits.

Doesn't pay crap, that's why these guys always "load the wagon". 90-100K is not uncommon. And they all use old worn out OTR large cars. And it's one-way freight, empty half the time. Not much else goes in a hopper.

That's true, but I don't recall too many new trucks hauling grain. And big lines sometimes, and you can't sleep, because you have to move every 10 minutes. Obviously there's different types of grain hauling, but most of it, is getting "Farmer Browns" crop to the elevator, and you know farmers, one big load is better than 2 legal loads,,,:biggrin_25523:
