started driving last December, I have around nine months experience. I guess I'm officially labeled a "Company Hopper". I had no intentions of dancing around companies. I just got released from my third company last week. I'm 42 I've never been fired before until the last week and I'm pretty down in the dumps about it. all I've done is fill out applications over the weekend. 32 to be exact.
I'm trying to find my niche here. I don't want to be on the road all the time and not have a life at all. My previous company I drove reefer. I made decent money. from my experience, you couldn't make decent money doing reefer unless you're out at least four weeks. I have a young daughter and that's pretty tough on me and her.
here's where I'm having issues... I really like operating a tanker but it appears to me they are very picky about who they hire and they want at least a year experience. it's real shame that this company that runs 100% pneumatic tankers did not work out for me. now I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to move forward in this career.
any advice would greatly be appreciated.
I'm still a green thumb...

Try dirt companies, pay is low, but the work is all local.
By dirt I mean bottom dumps, transfers, end dumps, powder trains, etc.
Give your location and it will be easier to help.
Edit: seriously if you change companies again after going local just change careers, trucking isn't for everyone. Also, why you got fired, and why you left other companies will help is help you as well.tscottme and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -

There are tons of jobs where you make money and be home every night. Or weekly.
There's no need to be out weeks at a time
Look for small companies that don't use dac. Or even big companies that are local.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
@Chinatowntscottme Thanks this. -
@Chinatown will offer some tankers he knows might be good for your area and situation possibly.
The job hopper label is just another way to subdue you and your spirit. Ive had 50+ in my lifetime none for the last 10 other than caregiving at home where necessary.
