Yea many want to add pressure to the fuel rail on a Big Cam to build power, and yes it helps but..... it also adds unneeded pressure on the injector Cam lobe causing it to have a shorter life span. Better flowing injectors with high volume / low pressure does a better job and the engine will live. I’m running 220 injectors, stock is 176....

Experience? Yes. I’ve yet to lose a cam do to added fuel pressure. Even a stock CPL 625 with factory Cummins CPL 310 injectors will make a world of difference without touching fuel pressure...... little things.

Dont recall ever pulling a cam in one of his, could have before my time. But alot is who was driving and how. Dont recall the size but would switch tips from 9 to 11 hole, then cc them to inject exact amount. Had to keep clean filter on them all the time. But always knocked the timing back, then put fuel to it.

I know this won't be popular, but I dislike seen black smoke out of a diesel. To me its fuel injected late at or after TDC and burning in manifold and turbo. Like I have told kids with these pickups. "Wanna impress me? Make that power with clean exhaust". I wouldn't leave the garage of mine smoked like some that I see.
