Atlanta. The city where it goes to 8 lanes wide going in each direction when it splits off to the outer loop, and yet traffic STILL routinely comes to a standstill there during rush hours.

Atlanta is worse than Chicago, worse than Dallas. I ALWAYS trip plan to drive past it after 9:00pm no matter what day of the week it is.

If there's 8 lanes going in each direction and traffic still comes to a standstill like that on a daily basis, no amount of extra lanes is going to fix it. Some population centers are just to big.

Big white and black overhead signs as you approach the 285 bypass going any direction. All thru trucks over 6 wheels must use 285 bypass.

Those signs are impossible to see from where you plan your trip, just saying.
Seems some peoples standard answer to any driver is they need to trip plan better. lol

My best plan is to avoid Atlanta at all. I hate doing the Atllant 500, especially on friday evenings when the school buses are running. They think they are big yellow nascar cars. lol

Same goes for Indy. Not sure if the loop is still closed but I know it was in August.

Places to avoid: Atlanta Indy and Charlotte NC.

Name me one big city that doesn’t have traffic woes at rush hr.
All that varies is how long rush hour lasts.

Atlanta’s problem is morning rush hour starts at 04:30 and lasts till 22:00 lol

Atlanta traffic is worse than dfw I got to agree.

Just this morning I was somewhere in south Georgia coming up i-75 heading to the Fairburn railyard and I remember seeing traffic was at a standstill for about ten miles up to the 285 loop and then for another five or so miles going west because of two separate accidents on the loop there.

So I figured I would try jumping onto highway 138 off of 75 thereright after it splits with i-675 and see how it goes, had nothing to lose really.

I counted 17 traffic lights the whole way and had to stop at 11 of them plus two of them I had to weight an extra color cycle because they were so bad, yet still I know I made it quicker than if I had stayed there on the interstate.

Anyone know any secret shortcuts to the railyards that work?
