A few more of the "good 'uns" - Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Chuck Berry, Brad Paisley, Joe Walsh, Alex Lifeson and on and on and on.....
Funny thing is, when these people get to a level of making a living at playing they really don't care who is the best; they just strive to be the best that they can be. All of them are excellent in their own right, but none of them are excellent at everything. If all music were the same, it wouldn't be worth listening to!
EDIT: My opinion: A big truck is not a place for a high end instrument of any kind. Too much could happen to it! Get a decent low end instrument and have at it; take what you learn and amaze yourself how well you sound on the good 'un at home.randomname and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I used a battery powered roland Micro cube for almost 2 years in the truck, with my Strat and it performed adequately. I use headphones so I'm bot bothering anyone amd I can play as loud as I want. But you dont even need that anymore. There are alot of guitar plugs ins. Just find an audio interface of your preference and your laptop, plug the guitar to A/I , A/I to the PC , fire up the plugin and proceed to make tunes.
I'm using the Fortin NTS Suite. I mainly play my Schecter C-1 Platinum (Which I believe is called the Damien now) as Its a medal oriented guitar, but the strat does fine when I need a little clearer tone.
For home use I have a Boss Katana 50, which can also be used and controlled through the Laptop and it gives a bunch of simulated pedals and effect to fart around with.
I almost Bought a Dean Dimebag signature a few days ago. I'm surprised that I wasnt thrown out of the store. I came back a second day to compare it to several(15) other guitars and it just was speaking to me like no other. The nonsense that I subjected those poor employees to was rediculous. Don't forget Jeff Beck! He has a style no other guitarist has been able to copy.

Showtime did a pretty interesting show on him. I forget what it’s called, but it was about his guitar work of course, but also showed his love of building race cars by himself, by hand. Pretty interestingWar-Eagle, Dennixx and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
JEFF BECK: STILL ON THE RUN.
