I've got a feeling, that if I was to build such an app... I'd spend a lot more, than just a lot of time doing it. And then in the whole world, there will be probably two people that would have a use for it, myself and if I'm lucky... one other. When all is said and done, and its time to remember the little people, I'll have to dig into my piggy bank to buy you a coffee!

When they had all that ice hit a couple years ago, I was coming out of Laredo heading east. Got up to the 410 loop around San Antonio and a truck wrecked on the I37 overpass and the tractor was hanging over the edge as we were going underneath. Beaumont threw a couple inches of dirt and gravel on 10. We get to Lake Charles and there were cars and trucks parked on the shoulder for miles. We left laned it and I kicked my speed to 70 before I hit the hi-rise. You know, easy on the throttle/high rpm/downshift if she starts spinning. Told the truck that was following me 1/2 mile behind to do the same. We went up and over the high rise and got pulled over on the other side by the cops. They tell us that the bridge was closed. There were no signs or barricades, so how am I to know the bridge was closed?
"Didn't you see all of those cars and trucks parked on the shoulder?"
(Wanted to say something, but I really wanted to keep on trucking, so I kept silent.)
The 18 mile basin bridge was closed and us 90 was closed. So, we stopped at Frog City. The next day, they had the basin bridge open, but traffic was backed up from the basin bridge (mm117) all the way to Frog City (mm87). I'm not leaving a good parking area to go sit in a 30 mile backup. The other driver who had followed me from Laredo decided that he wanted to go to the TA in Lafayette. That makes no sense.
"But Six, I want a shower and I have shower points..."
That's a 14 mile backup. How does one willing drive into a 14 mile parkinglot just because he's truckstop brand happy? Oh well, you do you, hand. The next evening, traffic was clear. Left Frog City, hammered down and made it to the north east side of Atlanta for a delivery the next morning.
Found out I met our former member Mr Beast (Renegade Trucker) on that run. -

Worst I've ever been in was a blizzard on donner pass. Max chains. I didnt have chains on the rear axle because well it was just along for the ride if you catch my drift. Get almost to the summit.
CHP stops me and says son you dont have all your chains on. I says that axle is no different than the front trailer axle.
Long story short him stopping me got me stuck on the mountain. Finally got that single screw petercar moving and got her back down the mountain.
Vowed from then on I wouldn't throw chains no mo. -
