Take your 40k, buy a dual tandem gooseneck, a used bobcat and a used mini excavator. Rent those out. Much, much less headache.

In 10yrs you can still sell the bobcat for what you paid because of inflation and demand.

20 years Go I rented a brand new Pontiac bonneville o miles for a 2 week hiatus.

200 a week unlimited milage 2 days down the road I hit a stray spare tire and caved in the oil pan and left a mark on the exhaust and many other things mounted under the car.

3 year old spilled red Koolaid In The backseat. May as well been epoxy paint. No hope of ever getting stain out .

Hiatus went from 2 weeks to 6 weeks and a few Off-roading adventures in the sticks up north

Turned the car in with 12,000 miles and looking very well worn. Paid my 1400 in rental fees and taxes and insurance and walked away.

Thought for sure I would get a call or additional charge. Nope.

A truck can be a profitable investment if its new to new-ish, your the one driving it, and you know how to manage your biggest expenses, fuel and taxes.

i Don’t know if the OP will see this or not, the thread is rather old. Here goes. Don’t buy a truck. Period. You’ll be throwing your money away, as has previously been posted. Find yourself a trustworthy agent, and invest your 40k in a good growth stock mutual fund. Something that exceeds the S&P 500. Keep working your regular job(s) and keep saving.

    Best of luck to you.

Buy about 3-4 trailers where you can rent them out at 500 a month easily.. Pay about 4-5 k for each one. Put about 3-4 in each for rehab.. once rehab you can easily rent them or sale them to someone as a rent to own deal or outright cash.
