    Hi, my husband was hired by Crete 3 months ago. Recently they've been hassling him about being unable to verify 2 of the jobs listed in his application. He came straight from doing 2 years in another company to Crete. I was able to find a w2 for one of them but we don't have w2 for the other. He randomly worked on and off for a year doing odd jobs whenever called from some app company. There was no paperwork involved. They would pay him through paypal which is all we have as proof other then maybe 2 emails from them. We put it down on the application because they said they didn't want any gaps. Had we known this issue would arise he would of just put unemployed since he barely worked that year anyway. Is it possible to still get fired after all. I figured this was all taken care of prior to hiring.

    I worked with him on occasions but other then that no. It was always different people for the most part. I tried contacting them but I'm not sure if their still in business.

    The real question is why are they waiting 3 months to verify this. I thought most companies would either complete all this during orientation or send you home.

    Yes, its possible to still get fired. There are companies that ask you to send in verification paperwork 4 months after getting the job. Some of them will also fire you if you don't. They will give you a month to submit or tell you goodbye. I can think of two companies off the top of my head.

    What do you mean there was no paperwork involved? Cash deal? Even a 1099 requires some kind of paperwork. Paypal? I mean... that is odd. Were any of those odd gigs truck driving jobs?

    If you really want to solve the problem it would require some work, google, and a bit of dishonesty. Thats a story for another day...

    Some of those companies are so disorganized they don't give a ####. Theyll take 6 months to verify. You can get the job and quit before they even get around to it.

    If Crete keeps on, change jobs.
    Most companies will accept, "I was doing odd jobs for cash during that period of time because I needed to be home more during that short period of time."
    With 2 yrs. experience he doesn't have to put up with that garbage.
    Are you in NYC?
    Which company did he do the 2 yrs. with?

    Yes NYC. He was with Western Express prior to them. They had him sign some paper about a month ago stating that he was working were he says he was but now they continue with the same thing.

    Put some apps in at other places that may be more reasonable. Looks like Crete is about ready to fire him.
