On any given trip, I will be passing several state road graders, you had better get their attention when passing, unless you want to wind up in the bottom of a canyon. lol

The truck I'm in now uses a private band radio. It drives me nuts not having a CB, especially with how cheap they are now. I think the Bearcat 880 was my favorite. I've had several Cobra LTD , you cant beat them in reliablility, but they get boring.

Prior to the invention of the Internet I believe the only way you could have a conversation with someone you didn't know a mile away was with the CB radio.

I have both in my trucks, well my private is modified, I have about 50 private channels in it, it works a lot farther than a standard cb, and we do not have cb shops so even peaking and tuning is not doable.

It’s almost like you pose a question just to try and convince all of us to do things your way. Others as well as myself have given numerous examples as to why we use them. You haven’t replied to my question about what you’d do with extended areas of no phone or data service. Granted, you likely don’t get off the interstate like I do, but even running across the Midwest on the two lanes we communicate to each other about wildlife or livestock on the road. Pretty sure your apps won’t tell you that. And pulling a pneumatic I need one so the loader can let me know when I’m lined up to load, etc.

I don’t think it’s better overall, though. We can both run data tests right now and post them here on this site, and I’m pretty confident my Verizon service will easily outperform it. Not to mention I have LTE up to 75 GB. After that, it can be throttled in times of congestion, but frankly I have never noticed anything, meaning, it hasn’t stopped me from watching YouTube or Netflix.

Well PE, here is a real problem, you can't use your phone while driving.

I just went through this with a couple drivers who were ticketed for using the apps on the phone, one was google maps and the funny thing is he was pulled over after trying to figure out why google maps was wrong.

The cb is a non-interactive device, meaning you turn it on and listen. A phone app has more than just turning a knob.

I know nothing about technology. Zero. Less than nothing.lol
so I have to respectfully ask: is it in real time? Like 20 to 30 seconds real time? Do you need cell signal? How do you manage to downshift, check mirrors for up-to-date to- the - second escape options, and absorb info from the phone all simultaneously. I'm not being a wise guy, I 'm just in the dark ages i guess .

I don’t and never will waste my time watching a movie on a cell phone screen.

There are good points being brought up, but if I can inform others on something that could be more useful, I will say it. After all, a lot of us use this forum to learn. After reading these comments, I feel more confident in making the purchase.
