Not my week lol. Monday decided to replace all brake shoes and drums they were close to needing them. Since I do Donner Pass twice a day. So today I get out of truck after driving 300 miles I get out and am greeted by the batteries smelling like rotten eggs. To late and dark to get my meter on the batteries to check charging voltage there. My dash in saying 14.0 v which it has been reading for the last 200,000 mi. What say you all are the batteries toast or? I realize that I will have to check them out in the morning just getting ideas fro you thanks

I never thought of it being me ####. When I pulled up to the security gate to drop my trailer, the guard said jeeez are you cooking with Kimchi. Serious though I know the batteries are original but what makes them smell so bd are the plates sulfiding getting covered with it.

Dino soar Thanks this. -
If you can smell it you have one cooking for sure. The offender will be hot or at least warm to the touch. Take care to make sure they vent and cool off before servicing, battery explosions are not pretty and all it takes is one spark ya know?

I have this sulfur smell problem now. It started yesterday. Batteries are one year old. Alternator is original Delco Remy (890k miles) .Dashboard shows 13.8-14 volt . Never had this kind of issue. Any suggestion what to check and where.

Get the batteries tested or replaced. One of them is boiling over/ gassing off.
Also be carefull, battery explosions can happen and are dangerous. I had one blow while trying to boost a 3 ton dodge. Blew the hood right open. All was left was the terminals.Dave_in_AZ, Wheeljack, InTooDeep and 5 others Thank this.
