From what I can remember, 12 volt batteries will boil once they get hit with a steady 15.5 volts. If there's a constant 14 volts at the batteries and they boil, chances are its just a defective battery.

This is a prime place to use an infrared thermometer. You can find the bad one in 15 seconds.

who knows how alternator works? It stop charging when voltage of batteries gets to 14 v? or it continually charges ?

    Charges on demand and usage.

Lower the voltage the more amperage is put out. If the regulator is shorted you will have high voltage due to overcharging. Doesnt happen often, but it does happen.

Yeah it tops off the battery. Sometimes the regulator craps out and it starts Overcharging them. You usually know by looking at the volt gauge if the gauge is on the high side your alternator is overcharging.

I have 13.8-14v .checked by multimeter. So there is no problem with alternator?

one more question. I have an infrared thermometer and I can find out which one is overheating. Is it ok to drive 2000 miles with 3 batteries? TIA
