I’d say if he runs a 70 hour log and worked five 12’s all week at FXF, he’s limited to a 10 run on the side job.

Or, if he runs a 14 hour run for the side company at the start of his 70, that only leaves him 56 hours to run for FXF, which they may or may not necessarily approve of.

I’ll end up entering whatever time I work at the new place in as on duty time on FXs system when I do, that way it shows against my 70 and vice versa.

The time management part won’t be an issue, I figure on a normal week I’ll be able to crank out a Saturday run every week with the new company. Seems they want to know my availability by Friday so it should be smooth.

Why not? If he can’t get extra runs at his regular job because of favoritism or fellatio or whatever, a man has to do what a man has to do.

I once looked around to see about driving a dump truck on Saturdays.

I’m happiest when I’m working and fortunate to have a wife that understands that.

I vowed years ago that as long as I have little ones that they’d never be left in someone else’s care while my wife had to work. I hated that part of my childhood.

We aren’t struggling, but the further ahead I can get, I’ll always take the opportunity.

I am not a fan of holiday weeks in general, especially ones where linehaul for the company is completely shut down on the holiday, mainly because my holiday calculation is made off my hourly rate x 8 hours, as opposed to using the vacation rate which should be calculating over $42/hr.

This in theory is my last check on the payscale just under top out. I've gotten several answers from different folks on when the top out happens in my case. Some say that it is based on actual hire anniversary, while some say it's when I was released from training as a driver.

If the former is the case, which I believe it is, my next check that I post will be at the top out rate. If the latter is the case, I'll have to wait until the end of October... which is bovine excrement because there was a lot of feet being dragged in the generation of my offer letter to convert from "Driver Apprentice" to "City Driver" at the time. I was with a city driver "coach" for 3 weeks past finishing the apprentice program AND city coach week before the offer was generated, and waited ANOTHER week for everything to cascade to payroll at the time.

Either way, I can't really complain too much, topping out in 1 year isn't anything to sneeze at and I'm making good money regardless as it is now.

At least you're getting miles. I make more in drop and hook pay than I do in mileage pay lol. Still not complaining either, I'm working less than 9 hours a night and I'm moving up the road board a lot quicker than I anticipated.

That's awesome. The way I see it with the road board in my center, within 5 years I stand to jump 5-7 spots due to the senior drivers nearing retirement age, and a few either seeking to enter a different industry. If I'm able to bump 3 spots in the next few years, I'll be right in the middle of a pack of 400 something mile shuttle drivers that will afford me the ability to take my time to get to the hub, drop the set, fuel, and take my lunch right before my trailers are dropped from dispatch, which would yield a 9.5 hour day on average. The run itself won't change from what I'm doing now, just having much better lane sequence position.

Per contract your not allowed to have an actual company logo on the truck. Part of the deal when you run under their DOT. Doesn’t mean it isn’t done. I’ve seen a couple contractors do it kinda mixed into the company name.
