Short on trucks isn't your concern it's theirs. Holding to the contract is the company responsibility. If all of you refused to go out watch how fast you'd have loaners from NBR & HRS.

If the 6am start time is what senior guys claim, what times DO you get as a newbie city driver?
(Position I applied to only listed the sunrise (6am-5pm) shift available?)

Nothing in contract I saw mentioned 401k match, guessing it doesn't exist because pension?

What do you mean $120/yr pension for "good" years?

Previously asked question about free health benefits vs paid - contract states not forced to pay fee for benefits, but how does this affect your actual coverage details vs the paid one?

I'm pretty sure but thought to ask anyway, nothing transfers between Freight & parcel correct?
If you got hired at freight, would they choose you over an off the street hire at parcel? (Is it even allowed to apply?)
    Seniority/pay/pension transfer?

Trying to decide on UPSF vs FxF city driver positions.

    Cheers

Start times for city driver can vary from 6am all the way to about 2pm. When I was with upsf as a newbie, I was on the 10am start. The 6am is coveted because you can get your 12 hrs in a day and still be home in time for dinner with the family. The pension is based on how many 'good' years you have. I believe for it to be a good year, you have to work at least 1,400hrs. And in return, you will receive $120 in your pension for that good year of service. Now if you accumulate 25 good years of service to the company, then your pension will be $120×25yrs=$3k/mo. There is a 401k with no match and also a stock program where you can buy UPS stock at a slight discount I believe.

Judging by how sensitive you were on FXF's application process in another thread... Neither company may be a fit for you.

    Haha
It's hilarious how multi-billion dollar corporations can have such basic design flaws in simple matters.
I am mostly interested in acquiring the most amount of information possible to narrow down my choices of future employment.

I also recently took issue to some details/changes of Smith & Wesson's most recent M&P line models, & wrote a multi paragraph diatribe complaining about mostly insignificant details.

Most of the forum members had the same reaction as you, saying I should just not buy any if I didn't like it, but a very few others realized the humor in the passion for (in one's own mind) the perfection I was directing my rants towards.
I don't actually expect any resolution for my complaints/issues, it's just a venting mechanism & public PSA announcement as well.

I handle pressure, change, inconstancies, flawed systems, unreasonable expectations, contradictory orders, and all other BS associated with life just fine - it doesn't mean that my annoyance switch doesn't get tripped & paragraphs don't get written.

(Air Products use the exact same Brassring portal as FxF, yet they have the forethought to add a "save" feature which would have negated all my complaints listed previously)

    ^^^THIS^^^

i think at this point, it's a toss up; If you like unions then go with upsf, if you don't then go fedx frt?

equipment is both top notch, with Fed possibly having the edge. Which is saying a lot because we're pretty anal about equipment.

Both companies are competitive with pay and it more boils down to luck/timing/positioning.
Example---McUzi with his run, gets to sleep for 3 hours a night and he's still blowing me away with YTD totals. And my payrate is higher. And we're not talking 1 or 2 thousand, we are talking about 7grand. It's unlikely i will catch up by december.

It's been a while since i was with Fedxfrt, but two other differences between the two companies that i remember assuming things havent changed much with fedx:

Seniority with upsf is very rigid, well-defined, formal and enforced----very little BS.

With fedx, you really don't have "true" seniority. Again, things may have changed.....
    UPSF has the edge here.

Keep in mynd, a lot of success as far as getting a good run/good start time is luck/timing/positioning/terminal.

Proceedures at Fedx are more thorough, well-defined, and fedx believes in education/training.

Whereas upsf is like----just learn as you go, they want to throw you in there and have you "get it"----You're pretty much just expected to know........

i have still NEVER recieved any dock training except like 15 min forklift "training" during orientation (and you know this was only to make sure you can drive a forklift w/out running anyone over....) And with linehaul, my shop steward showed me how to do the paper work for like 10 mins......

If you like structure and think education/training is a good thing, then fedx has the advantage here.

Thank you for these viewpoints & comparisons, exactly the kind of unadvertised inside info I was looking for.

Sounds like FxF would be more up my alley, (I prefer clear & direct procedures/training) but will still keep the door open to other options.

Does FxF separate the seniority between City & Road boards or does it go by total years employed?

    Cheers

FedEx for whatever stupid reason does run two seniority lists.

So if you were top city guy & transfer to linehaul at FedEx, you are now bottom barrel besides pay/benefits?

And with UPSF, you transfer all seniority & pay switching between boards/terminals?

So a guy could transfer from another terminal & bump the top guy off his run unexpectedly if he had more total seniority?

From what I’ve read, that is pretty much the case.

I don’t know about Buster Brown, but at R+L there’s one seniority list, it transfers with you if you move to another terminal, and you wouldn’t bump the top guy off his run there unless another run opened and he was the highest to sign up for it since they have lifetime bids.
