I do. I just got to work now at 3:30. I'll drink coffee and pretrip until 4 and then I'm out the door until 2-4 in the morning.

That'd be sweet, especially not having to deal with as much traffic

That's honestly why I do it. I'm in Tampa FL so traffic is stupid most of the time but working nights I get a lot less traffic to deal with.

I need all the edge I can get considering I have more hours/experience driving a semi than a regular vehicle, that was pretty fun looking back though lol

Nights are great, the night bulk deliveries are quick since there is next to nobody out delivering so I'm always first in line, less traffic, I have my days free if I need to get something done while stores are empty, I don't know if I would ever go back to days now.

Refrigerated is mostly night driving; that's one reason I did refrigerated for 18 years.

Believe me... you run OTR. When you wake up. You'll have to figure out if it's night or day. All kinds of hours. Reefer delivers/picks up often in middle of the night. Places that open at midnight and close at 7am.
I didn't try. But imagine you could drive more at night if you want. You have some freedom to arrange drive time. But still gotta get there. No foolin' round. You definitely have more control and freedom than home daily driving.
I somehow always worked out rest. Sometimes would really push it. But always when got bad tired. I could pull over and sleep. Even if just for an hour. Then go three more before my 10. Things like that. A good company won't hassle you when you push it too far and have to rest. They can see it. (like a certain company I mentioned)

Is it just me, or is the trucking industry a bit dirty? I remember this recruiter from Stevens whose sales pitch consisted of "Drive for Stevens, here at Stevens we'll make you lots of money" (he also made a quite unprofessional sexual joke in front of what I believe was his boss and the guy had no problem with it) and everything he said revolved around money and not the actual trucker; I definitely won't be driving for Stevens after that one, but honestly all the other recruiters were the same except for the one from Maverick who was actually a trucker (unlike the other guy).

    You keep making me laugh.
When I talked to Stevens. First thing the recruiter said: "You're hired! Get down here right now!"
    :laughing-guffaw:
I've had Terminal Managers feed me such BS it was obscene.
If you talk to Tony at (a company I might have mentioned). He's different. In charge of driver relations also. The only recruiter. He reports only to the top boss. On the same level as other department heads. He'll have it out with them also. Doesn't like hiring people just to have them leave.
