Thanks guys.
Man thats crazy. I've never been hassled over it. I guess they assume I have a permit.. unless you get a sticker with it thats supposed to get displayed. I just got NY HUT permit. Every state has something extra they want us to pay for. I guess I need to look into getting that kingpin permit.

Hurst, FL gives you 44k on a tandem, so there is no reason to run it spread. I've never been bothered with my 51' spread out and KP to center of rear axles is 41', so who knows.
281ric Thanks this. -

the system kinows if you have a permit. if they can't find it in the system. you get pulled in for a paper check.
usually.
but, your talking florida. i don't know how they see anything with all them trucks rolling through at 40 mph. wish ALL states was that fast.
there are 13 closed axle states. not just california. be wise to invest in a truckers atlas. all that information is in the front pages.ncmickey Thanks this. -
There's an old man that's got a hard on for this at the southbound wildwood scale, he'll measure every truck he thinks is close, the rest really don't seem to care, Sometimes they enforce it and sometimes they don't, I ran for years without a permit and only got hassled about it a couple of times, you can get a permit for a year I think it was 75 or 100 bucks...

FlaSwampRat, JPenn and 281ric Thank this. -
Mr Glock is correct. Just close your spread. You should be fine.
-
If the permit is more than the citation, then something's wrong
-
If you come to Alaska, you either have to buy a 30 day permit or an Alaska tag, the tag is substancially less money the permit. lol
-
But it's still cheaper than getting cited for failing to comply, right?
