I been seeing more YouTube videos of uber freigh . The videos make it look very nice. I just wanted to know who is hauling for them and is it good?
Are the rates ok or bad?
Is it easy to get your load when at the shipper or is the info given wrong?

Great rates on the two I've run or I would not have taken them. Info is always right. There's no brokerage in the middle usually to screw it up. In fact, but load I just took had EVERY thing on the bid and it was all right.

I use Uber and Convoy, and almost never use brokers. I prefer Convoy over Uber because they have more available loads in my area. That seems to be the biggest difference between the two companies. They're both growing and fighting for market share. One of them will have more customers in certain areas over other areas.

The rates are as good as any other load board. You'll have great rates and horrible rates. The shipper is the person who posts the load, and they will hang out cheap freight. Convoy gives you an option to bid on loads and Uber doesn't. If a load is posted too cheap, people will bid it up until the shipper decides to accept the offer. That's a feature I use a lot on Convoy, and one I wish Uber would add.

I've never had a problem at a shipper or receiver that Convoy or Uber couldn't fix by making a couple calls. Convoy seems to have better customer service than Uber, only because Uber uses overseas help with heavy accents which I don't like.

Few weeks ago i booked a landstar load of crane mats.. That was a double brokered load from jones. Before i figured any of this out, jones is calling me to check on "their" load and im like who the heck are you? They then tried to recruit me to haul direct for them. I look into jones and their bond is set for cancellation, call the shipper, yakmat and find out theyre owned by jones, just a business name for a product made at edwards group. Landstar skimmed $200 off the load, the yakmat app i was required to download didnt work, i couldnt get anyone to pull the load off my trailer because it was too late on a holiday friday.. The broker at landstar hung up on me 3x when i called to give the required status update at delivery on monday. The BOL had a blank spot for the number to text POD images for quickpay to, and due to hurricane the landstar offices were closed. I still dont think weve been paid for that one and surely theyll say we didnt comply with the terms on the BOL. Ironic because they didnt either. Landstar BOLs specifically prohibit double brokering, even when its on a load they double brokered.

Even on a load that they double brokered. Yes that is how they operate.

No self respecting Carrier should do business with them. Yet they will line up every day.

I still can't get over the time the double brokered a load out to partial a dedicated load on a truck one of my colleagues hired to take a different partial roughly on the same lane.

Is it not ironic? When thinking of running under somebody else's authority, they naturally come first in mind. Lot's of success stories and also that resemblance of being independent with an additional advantage of firmly paid settlements every week makes a nice prospect for a fresh owner operator. Yet, thinking of them as load board brokers, which could be the same agents upon which Landstar drivers tell the success stories (perhaps also here) you kind of cringe with disgust.
