What is your location?
-
you can find a local only flatbed job or even lowboy work if you look around
-
Which city/town do you live in or near?
Since you want local work, we need to know. -
Get a local gig hauling equipment to and from construction sites. End dump, dump truck work, cement mixer work. U know stuff that will keep ur mind moving. Rather than boring box truck work
starmac, blairandgretchen and Linte_Loco Thank this. -
What are your goals? More money? More time with family? Do you have a desire to do a certain type of work? Is there a certain experience void that you would like to fill? -
Heard side loading beverage is decent money but real work
Ive done Flatbed so im willing to work.
i can still do Flatbed too? just depends.?
trying to figure out whattype of companys to look out for
for either Flatbed
or Sideloading bev truck?
just want to be back home judt missing family ,friends etcCoffey Thanks this. -
im also considering leaving SoCal in 1-3 years
maybe sooner just depends. -
So Cal is a big area but I'll throw out some other ideas.
Milk haulers can work a lot of hours but make good money at some companies. Fuel haulers tend to make good money.
Concrete guys can do ok in some areas.
If you are close to an area where the hsr project is working that's a gold mine, might have to get into an engineers union for those gigs.
Ag work can be home daily but tends to be seasonal.
Ltl companies are a good gig but you have to look at experience requirements in your area. It can range from taking guys off the street with no experience to not even looking at guys with less than 5 years local driving experience, just depends on the local driver market.
Food service and beverage are good. Beverage is easier and doesn't pay as well in general. I like there work in food service but it's not for everyone. Pay is awesome though.
Look for companies doing direct contact work for big companies. For example the car parts stores. I interviewed one job for a company that did that. Worked out of the DC and did daily route deliveries to the stores overnight. Auto zone is jb hunt I think. Car quest out of Bakersfield was done by a company that I worked for a few years back, although I was on a different account.Coffey and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
blairandgretchen Thanks this.
