...no the 500.00 was the lowest number I know of on research most truckers have taken home in a down frieght market . .. worst case scenario.
Been doing 16 years of service. I know I know . But I have my reasons
. I'm double and triple checking other options for school but already got this ball rolling with cdl. And twic and passport appointments set up . Plus I'm kinda bottom barrel. I got 4 citations in 5 years for 10 over . But I own thoss

Thank you all for the responses.
To answer a few questions or clarify .. I have tried online schooling through 3 colleges . Just isnt my thing. I also have two logistic certs good for 3 more years . As far as the army . I've loved every minute of it. Still do. But it's time to cut sling load . And try something new.

Do not, I repeat DO NOT let a company trick you into training you. Go to a community or tech college. Go through their 6-8 week program and then choose a company. Your GI will pay for the school and living expenses. Then you will start out in the 40cpm area(about 1,000/week on slow weeks).
Look at any of the Daseke truck companies.
Stay away from companies that also run van/refer freight.
Most of the college programs have recruiters that come to the class.

They usually run half days, for 6-8 weeks. Allows you to work part time and attend or spend some much needed time with family and adjusting to civilian life.
I worked for 7 years after I left the Corps in 08. Then went to a tech school. central Oregon trucking is a Daseke group and will probably recruit you hard. Spend 2 years with them and then transfer to one of their specialized companies. Daseke owns like 15 trucking companies from starting drivers to extreme HH.
Any other questions, feel free to hit me up.

P & S is good according to a friend of mine. He's been there about a year. They go everywhere, and they'll pay you percentage. They have big time freight. They've bought out several companies. My friend never sits.
