Wow. I got out just in time. Was on that stretch of road not 5 days ago. Perfectly dry.

I feel real lucky.
Earlier this week I drove westbound through Houston just as the tropical storm was parking itself over Houston. The rain wasn't too bad, just enough to wash Palmetto Bug juice off my truck, a few stretches of 6" deep water on the road, and that was it.
I use the Myradar app on my smartphone. I was worried as I approached Houston, because of the stalled storm, BUT it didn't show any flood warnings. I made it about halfway between Houston and San Antonio to take a 10, with stars out.
One thing all truckers need to know about driving through flood waters, it WILL #### up your transmission at the very least. That flood water is filled with chemicals and silt. Next time you have a chance, crawl under your truck and look at the bottom of the transmission. It has an open hole on the bottom. Flood water WILL get up into the transmission and #### it up in a hurry.
How do I know this?
Because I drove through a flash flood in '15. The owner of the truck ended up paying for a new transmission among other damage.
If you see deep water ahead of you, just ####ing STOP. -
This is a new amphibious from of transportation called gator trucking. Fyi...

That's a new kind of water-to-air intercooler...much cooler induction air.

The crawfish boil has been postponed until further notice......The mudbugs we had gathered and penned up have escaped into the flood waters. Unknown at this time when we will be able to regroup and mount a regathering of the escaped mudbugs.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
That’s for sure! And it don’t stop there. The water will get into the engine, clutch, drive line carrier bearings and u-joints and differentials gear boxes as well. You have to drain and flush all contaminated components ASAP to avoid serious damage to the entire truck.Last edited: Sep 21, 2019
