Gentlemen, I haven't forgotten about the funny story I owe y'all.

Here is a teaser. Today, I'm cleaning out my truck and headed home.

I put my notice in 2 weeks ago and it's been constant. It actually makes me feel very appreciated. The leadership team has been nothing but supportive of my decision, but they would love to keep me.

I'm going local, with hourly wages. I've never done anything like that before. From this very forum, I've learned some drivers have a hard time transitioning from OTR to local. I hope the new gig works out, but if it doesn't, I'll go back to my former company.

Wait a minute brother. 14 years with one company? Now hold on just a second. The Drill Sergeant has to come out of me now. You have 6 years left man why let that go? You better keep trucking. Give me 6 more. Lol. Just messing with you. Congrats on the local gig. I’m sure whatever decision you made was best for you and your family needs and I wish nothing but the best for you.

Transition from OTR life to local life will be hard. It was for me and I didn’t like it at all. Working 14-16 hour days then the commute back and forth to work and home. Man oh man. Felt like I wasn’t home everyday. Just enough time to eat shower and go right to bed to do it all over again. No time with my family because I needed to sleep but even that was hard because it’s noisy sometimes so I had to wear earplugs. Then when the weekend came I was so exhausted I didn’t want to do anything but rest and play catch up. Not spending time with the family was a no no for me. I got tired of it and decided to go teams. I make more money, get more sleep per night and my weekends off I was well rested and we do something every weekend now. Couldn’t be more happier. That’s just my experience everyone else is different.

I’m happy for you and one can only assume you are joining us. If so even bigger congrats and welcome to the team. Hope you are getting that P&D position. The dedicated positions are not that great in my opinion but gets your foot in the door. Once again congrats man and stay safe

Busy day, albeit unproductive day, with the new job.

Paid for 10.5 hours being shown the ropes, but I didn't feel like we actually did anything.
