Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Ray, how do I get in touch with you about this. I live in Orlando. I don't have sufficient posts to pm you.

PM any mod and ask them to forward it to the member of your choosing. Be sure to include your email address in that PM. -
I live in central florida and seem to have found a few companies that are willing to hire me.
KH -
what compaines are those???
-
I got hired by Swift. Had offers from Conv.. I mean Carolina Cargo, Werner, Covenant and Stevens.
I think where you go to school has a big affect on which company will look at you seriously as a new driver. And no, I don't mean a trucking company school. -
Can you tell me why you chose Swift over the others? Did you have much OTR experience? We live in north Florida and having a tough time finding a job (hubby). I am attending a community college truck driving school in July and have hopes of teaming with my husband. I had heard that Swift was not hiring teams right now but can't remember where I heard it or read it at.

I chose Swift because they have a terminal in Florida. I'm brand new to the trucking industry and only got my CDL in April of this year. The school I went to had applications for at least 10 different companies. I applied to all of them and got accepted by most. (pre-hires of course)
There's a lot of crap talked about Swift, but after my first six weeks I'm feeling that it's just the whiners and lazy folks out there that have a problem. We'll see how it goes now that I'm solo. -
What do you know about any jobs in Florida?
-
I know that Swift's Ocala, FL terminal is still hiring. Try looking up and calling them, it couldn't hurt. I'd post more information here, BUT the mods seem pretty strict on recruiting and I don't want anything misconstrued.
That said... I've been solo for four weeks now and it's great. I'm getting lots of miles (2,500 to 3,000) a week. I'm getting paid for everything I do and haven't had any complaints as of yet. Gonna take some home time later this week as the grass is getting tall.
