Finally working!

September 4th was my first day and worked for a week and a half!
Everything went great even though its tough finding loads with a new company and new numbers but my dispatcher is great at his job and kept me running.

 

Its not as bad as everyone told me it would be. Obviously slow on corners but overall my truck took it like a champ and was steady the whole time. Never once felt the trailer lean even with a heavier load on top through very hilly/curvy roads.

 

Even though I'm just starting out, I already hate elds...
Just managed to pull into a truckstop before a violation

Done with my first month. Had a few delays and total worked a little over 2 weeks.
I sold my trailer and got a different one.

Had some issues with the previous one. I was limited on what I could haul with the first trailer. 1 small suv, 1 full sized sedan, 1 low sedan and 1 full size truck. Was a bit annoying trying to fill it up. Missed out on a few great jobs not being able to fit them. Also had a hydraulic leak i assume was from a faulty pump.

My new 51' + extensions could fit almost any load I need it to. It also saves me $ on tolls. One less axle to worry about. 2 Heavy duty 12k axles vs 3 9k axles which turned out to be really 8k axles with heavier wheels. No moving parts, no hydraulics to mess with.
Also think its a much cleaner look and handles better except when empty it does a push/pull jerking motion. Smooth as butter loaded. Weighs over a ton less than the previous one. Truck and trailer weighs 18,400 lbs, leaves me with 21k lbs load. Even though its longer it is much easier to park and a lot easier to strap. Also gained a tool box.



If any one is interested, first month, new venture, very expensive insurance, still trying to get certain brokers to work with me, few non full loads due to trying to be somewhere at a certain time and days wasted the first week trying to book loads and a few more days dealing with exchanging trailers, After all expenses I profited 4k for a "bad" month. I'm happy but my dispatcher is upset we didn't make more

I love this job except the 34 hours reset in a truck and 4 wheelers without a gram of logic/skill.
