I figured you were a clean slate, hence the reason for my post. But MANY were clean slates, but picked up terrible habits. Speeding through construction zones, tailgating, lewd behavior, impatient, self centered, oblivious to their surroundings, disagreeable, STUPID, fair weathered, negative charged, kool aid drinking and entitled.
Where do you think they learned such bad habits?

Yep, a bit behind schedule is better than way behind schedule in the ditch or filling out a damage report. Things will come up that you didn't expect, (slow traffic, blown tire, bad weather etc.) that put you behind schedule. Don't ever let that make you try to rush. The flip side of that is don't sit in the truck stop for a few extra hours thinking you have enough time because that's when you will run into those unexpected issues.
As you get more seat time the truck will get a bit smaller and the road a bit bigger.
4 hours is a good stretch. It's a good idea to get in a habit of stopping every 2 or 3 hours to stretch your legs, check your tires, load etc.FlaSwampRat, Trucker61016, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
Average around 11 500 a month divided by 720 hours in 30 days so it's more like 16mph. Not sure what that has to do with anything though. Average speed while driving is what I was referring to. mehFlaSwampRat, Trucker61016 and Intothesunset Thank this.

You will hear them say, “I WAS TAUGHT TO DO THIS.”
And unfortunately, once the habit is locked in, it’s really hard to change.FlaSwampRat, tinytim and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -
Well even though I have a bit of an ego, I'm not going to pretend to know more than someone who has many years of experience on me and try to do everything "my way" instead of the way I was shown.FlaSwampRat, Trucker61016 and tinytim Thank this.

More like monkey see, monkey do mixed with complacency. Short sighted in more ways than one.
Always keep the big picture in mind. Getting through the next week/month/year/decade without anything bad happening is more important than getting where you're going a few minutes earlier today. Tailgating, rushing though construction zones, not being courteous to other drivers etc. will bite you eventually.x1Heavy, TripleSix and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -
If its a paper load in rolls of newsprint. whatever trip planned you did out the window. Reduced to three things.
