Then he screams to make sure my RPM's are at 1100 before shifting.
Then he screams at me again for looking down at the RPM's.
He then (and this is a so-called professional instructor that is CERTIFIED by the state of Utah) lurches over from the passenger seat and covers my dashboard with his clipboard. Now I can't see how fast I am going or my RPM's - and it made it extremely difficult to shift while this guy's body was lying over the gear shift!!!!
Now, correct me if I am wrong, but I didn't think an instructor was supposed to do this kind of stuff to a student while he is DRIVING during the actual ROAD TEST. Is this in CR England's safety manual??? What's wrong with this man? Is he a drunk? Seriously!
I think by covering the RPM gauge with his clipboard, this man was trying to teach you something. I also think that if you had listened to him, Not only would you have passed but, you would have learned a very valuable lesson in the art of driving.
I Should have listened: (CR ENGLAND!!!!)

To the new drivers at CRE,
Don't be afraid to refuse to work with a "trainer" who is unsafe, uncaring or just wants to run you like a team driver. Many of these "trainers" were in your shoes 12 months ago. Do not risk your life for a measly paycheck. Question the "trainer", and make sure he/she has the aptitude and common sense to be a "trainer". If you feel uncomfortable with that person, ask to be re-assigned another "trainer". Your life may depend on it. -
Thats good advice for any company, some companies actually only require 90 days before you can train.

Rolling Thunder I feel your pain bro. I talked to them and they said I was diqualified from the class because of an accident in 2007. Their own website says no more than 2 in 3 years.

RT, I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. Trust me, though, it's on a case-by-case basis. I trained with CRE, and had a good experience training. Though I don't think they taught as much as they could have, I'd have to say it was much better than your experience from what you said. In fact, I enjoyed CRE up until I was done with training and went solo. No, I didn't read any reviews on the company before signing on with them or going IC, but I should have.
My advice to anyone considering CRE: Explore your opportunities, only choose CRE if you have to, and if you are dead set on going to CRE, go company. If you really, really want to have your own truck, do not do it through CRE's leasing company and make absolute certain you are not restricted to hauling only CRE's freight, because CRE will leave you sitting for days on end in the middle of nowhere. -
There are no such thing as a solo company driver at cre n e more. Company drivers have to be teams now. lol

Thanks so much for sharing such useful information
