Good to hear. M and the others were right, they were willing to deal with you. Doesn't always happen these days
Of course, as you said on load boards, if you hadn't sent e-mail two weeks ago saying you would buy it... Might have been different story.
Anyway, at least you have month to figure something out

Imagine customer asked for cash out and they are like "uuuh yea about that...we are out of cash but if you look outside, we have ALOT of trailers that you are free to use for a couple days" haha -
I'm guessing he's trying to buy it himself. Trailer is expensive but for the percentage they take out you can more than make trailer payment.
I would say 5mouths was right on target about not wanting trailer. I would think Pharm should have good chance to finance it. Pawnd was right about floor plan not exactly sure what that is.Last edited: Jul 5, 2009

Floor plan is financing for dealership inventory, a standing open end loan up to a specified amount. Inventory is still collateralized more like a credit card balance than a loan for each piece of inventory.
Fratsit and wheathauler Thank this. -
Ok, Thanks for info...Sounds like another victim of the inability to get credit. I remember when banks actually lent money.
-
Most of banks have not been lending their own money since the late 70's when Mortgage Backed Securities were invented. Since then loan products are packaged and sold as a group ie: security. So most money actually lent out today is from Large investors and lately mostly Government money.
M.Enterprises and wheathauler Thank this. -
Hauling screenings today from a wheat seed company...screenings is the not so good wheat. They use the real good wheat to sell as wheat seed.
It sounds like they are selling a bunch of seed wheat to OK and Texas...Mainly because of their bad harvest. Had that happen in 2007 here, frost killed most of wheat...They had to get seed wheat in western ks, OK, NE etc.Last edited: Jul 6, 2009

Well, finished with screeings for today, may be more this week I never know. Depends on how much wheat they go through in a week.
Usually only haul these July-Oct during the wheat season. Hauling this isn't bad...haul certified seed you have to have the trailer blown out. They are real particular when you haul certified.
Interest place to load, small building dark inside...Know you're in the right spot when you just miss hitting two poles in the shed. Being a hopper driver it takes me longer backing up. I really don't back up that much with grain. Well, I back up but don't have to jackknife it like I have to do here. Probably Pharm does on some of his loads. -
I have pics posted way back of having to pull back with my rear tandem hanging off a cliff to get the rear hopper over the hole. Terrible dump design at that farm.
Also one place that had steel guide rails and the tires on both sides of the trailer rub the whole way back and wedges it in. That has to be terrible on trailers and tires.
Even the pull forwards at a lot of places are such that in order to get straight on the scales you have to use every available inch of property for oversteer in order to just make it. Pretty stressful for me as a newb, but I've been nailing all my marks for the last month and a half or so. I think I'm out of the weeds for the most part. -
The darkest I ever backed into was a grain flat. Finally talked them into putting a light in there so we had an idea where the auger was. The light was like a big flashlight but it helped. Like you said Pharm couldn't see hardly at all until got cab inside.
I love it when a person tells you which way to turn your wheels when you back up. I tell them to point where they want me to go. Half of them don't know which way to turn the wheels.
