They do search Trucks, usually looking for illegal drugs and especially drug money. I’ve been searched 4 times in the last 15 yrs. Always asked first, if I have any firearms, or illegal drugs. I guess if I had a pistol, I would fess up, hope for the best. Seriously thinking about carrying one. I’ll be legal, if so.

That's pretty steep considering I've never had so much as a speeding ticket lol I can't do hard time
-
I was definitely joking about that; I mean what kind of guy would take that chance

Who is searching you?
I have been searched by Canadian customs, US customs once, simple easy searches at several military bases, very thorough searches going on to the missile sight portion of bases or any nuclear power plant.
I have had state police try to search me, but refused and opted to tell them to get a warrant.FlaSwampRat and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -
Check out NY sullivan law, I think is what it is called. Go straight to jail, do not pass go, no need to even hire a lawyer. lolNavigatorWife, izifaddag and farmerjohn64 Thank this.

A knife, a 2lb sledge and a tire beater/club are "tools" and more than sufficient to defend yourself in most situations. As a Canadian, I've had to be a lot more creative to come up with ways to keep myself safe in life, as handguns are essentially sporting-only things up here, as the regulations on storing and transporting them are so strict.

I have a Henry Big Boy .44. but not in the truck.
My truck has never been searched, but it is more likely at military bases.
And I have seen it happen near Oceanside, CA at the navy base. A truck in front of me was pulled in at the gate, and they started to get into his truck as I was let through.
Even if they found nothing, that driver probably had a mess to deal with after that ordeal.NavigatorWife, izifaddag and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -
Do they accept, "get out of jail free cards"?
-
Yeah I remember reading you can't even shoot them on your own property, you have to go to the range; maybe there's exceptions though.Zeviander Thanks this.

Can't really shoot guns on your own property at all, unless you live rurally. But that might just be lack of people being around to enforce it. I have my PAL (but don't use it) but I can't remember all the different rules and regulations.
All I know is that once you have a restricted license, the RCMP or local police can enter your home at any time to inspect all your firearms, their storage and ammunition. The latter of which must be stored in a separate locked container in a separate room in the home.NavigatorWife and farmerjohn64 Thank this.
