My 2 cents..I’m still new here, and wouldn’t say I’m totally comfortable with everything I need to know. Still tightening up my etd’s, and learning as I go. Having said that, I’m bringing in a little more than $3500 every 2 weeks. That’s with CA traffic and speed limits, and putting in about 60 hrs in 5 days. Not rocket science working for WM..keep the truck out of the ditch, don’t run into things, get loads delivered on time, and profit. Pretty good gig so far..

No not trying to scare people off, just throwing in my two honest cents. Again as I mentioned it's choice to work what you want when you get comfy with the peoplenet system. And I can't comment on other drivers at other DCs, as I do know some are isolated enough that they tend to stay closer and with that thought, it's possible to make more money if that's the case. I have in fact hit a couple $500 days, but due to the randomness of load assignments, I highly doubt these other drivers who are making the same as me work less than me... As one driver stated already he works 60 hours.. well 5 days, that is 12 hours a day, but he did state is more 4.5 days, which is very true. Walmart ensures you are back on your last day of your work week so the truck is there for the next driver the following day. So that means he is indeed working more than 12 hours a day to make up for a half day as there has been a number of times Walmart will not give me a load and I have 5 or more hours left on my last work day of the week again just to make sure that truck is ready for the following driver. So at minimum he is working 13 hours a day. I too end my work week on my 5 days with usually 9 or 8 hours left on my 70... Now my 15 hour exaggeration does not mean on the clock 15 hours. I count the time I wake up to generally when I go to sleep as when you begin your work week that is all your doing, work, sleep, work, repeat. But this is common reasoning for truck drivers and didn't think it necessary to elaborate that point. I have no intentions of giving my notice as I'm happy here at Walmart. If I had to do it all again with what I know now, I would do it again with a few minor changes that have nothing to do with Walmart. I am a relocator. Moved from 6 states over, so I would have conducted that move differently is all. I was just giving some details that some may be curious about. Now that I have a few months under my belt and look back, it's dissappointing... Most drivers give all praise and great hype. So most drivers go in all excited for a change and better pay, so on... When you finally start working and about the 30 day mark, your like hmm, not exactly all the hype and praise most expected... And that's where I stress... Get rid of the hype and praise... Go with efficiency.. Walmart is more efficient than any other company. You don't sit for hours or days for your next load. You don't get push back for a couple days off, you don't sit for hours to get unloaded, you don't have crappy trucks (sure some old, but 99% of the time they are good to go, might need to air up tires or something minor...) The office staff more or less are friendly, no worries about missing pay or they owe me this or that... And on and on... Walmart is very efficient... With that said, when comes to making a decision. Ask yourself WWWLD... What Would a Walmart Lawyer Do? If you think that lawyer would get that tire inspected... Get it inspected. If you think that Walmart Lawyer would stop at a dollar store with a Walmart truck.... Think again. Though most of that concept is common sense...

I'm very surprised you can make that in CA.. I wonder if the pay scale itself is different? If I was stuck at 55 in this area, no way could I make that. I have no issues with admitting that. There are some weeks that I am just on country roads most of the time and it's standard 55, those weeks in fact I only pull in maybe $3100 just for that reason... I suspect the pay scale is different, not that I mind, there should be a balance and make up for that reason and for the high taxes in general as well.... No need to post the actual pay scale though, its again common sense to assume that fact of a higher pay scale to compensate is true... Glad your enjoying it. I am enjoying the gig too overall. I am doing my 12 months so I can relocate to a more permanent locale if my liking, currently too far north for my taste, I am shooting for Tennessee or NC after my 12 months are up.

Lol. Yes, go figure. It's just when you get into gear, you don't want to get out of it. With that said, the last 4.5 months I have lost 30 lbs due to the long hours and staying in "gear mode". And because of that I have occasionally hit a couple days at $500 so it was worth it, especially being a truck driver in general, a little weight loss is always welcome.

Anyone know anything about working out of Mount Crawford dc in Virginia? Any details on what a new hire could expect would be appreciated.

I know this is one of the newer DCs. When you say they run pups, do they also run doubles? I was considering a xfer to here after my 12 months.
