Ok thanks for that guys. I'm trying to understand this business before making a financial mistake so all is appreciated! Lemme see if I get this...right now, on RightNowloads.com there is a load going from very near me to Chino, California, let's estimate 2200 miles. If you get the average rate of say $1.50/mile thats $3300 for that 3.5-4 day delivery, right? Find something to get back home or near it and you potentially double that to make a total trip net of $6600. Of course this is simplify things and not providing all the bs it took to get the loads but IF you do get loads that a nice net for a week's worth of work.

Hey, not a hot shot, but I'm a one truck big rig my own company, all in...
I'm $20,000 in all the way, $4,000 per month $1,775 Mos for my rig and $2,030 Mos for full Authority Insurance!!!
My very first week I did two short loads, one load for $1,000 and 2nd load for $1,800, Insurance is due soon!
    That covers the coming Insurance!!!
    If you get my meaning...
If you don't get where I'm going check it out , I put in my own , meaning funded by my self only, saved, cursed, worked with two lying ### hole prices of #### in order to save money/ stack up to $28,000 ALL SO I CAN EARN MY RED PILLED "FREEDOM" from a slave driving employee BULLSH-T, a cheating ### ex and mother of my little 6 yr old son and and the two affirmentioned azzholes who still owe me $3,000 as I write this text!!!
Oh yeah, some fine ### dumb young woman, driving with no lights on t-boned the side of my car one night, and gave me 5 broken ribs, I'm still suffering from now!!!
Had to drive a crap truck those dude's wouldn't fix that aggravated my rib in the back and made me quit driving that crappy truck!!!
**All of that to say to all you new comers, YEAH, BE REAL, BE TOUGH, YOU CAN DO THIS ####!!!
IT'S HARD WORK, YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH BULLSH-T PEOPLE AND CIRCUMSTANCES, "BUT", IF IT WINS YOU YOUR 1) FREEDOM!! 2) SELF RESPECT AND DIGNITY AS A MAN!!!
AND 3) SHOWING & TELLING YOUR 6 YEAR OLD SON HOW AND WHAT IT IS TO BE A MAN, SO HE CAN SEE FIRST HAND AND LEARN!!!
    THEN DO THAT ####!!!
IT'S ALL ABOUT "SUPPLY AND DEMAND" IN BUSINESS PERIOD, DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE INDUSTRY IS, IT ALL COMES DOWN TO NEED, WANT AND THIS IS SIMPLY WHY SOCIETIES ARE WHAT THEY ARE TODAY AND WHY SOCIETIES ARE DOING THE BACKWARDS BULLSH-T THEY'RE DOING, SO THAT DEMAND IN ALL THE MARKETS CAN GET MUCH STRONGER!!!
THE DUMBER THE MASSES, OR SHOULD I SAY, THE MORE THEY DUMB PEOPLE DOWN THE MORE $$$ THEY ARE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE MASSES, THIS IS WHY IT'S A ZOMBIE PIMP NATION!!
WHETHER YOU COMPREHEND OR NOT, GO AND GET YOUR MONEY!!!!
LIKE THE DRIVER SAID ABOVE, MAKE YA PLAN WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND GO DO SOMETHING MAN!!!
LIVE YOUR LIFE BEST YOU CAN, STRIVE TO BE A GOOD HONORABLE MAN, CAUSE BUSINESS IS NOT HONORABLE, SO BE HAPPY, BUT IN BUSINESS BE PROFESSIONAL AND PROSPERITY WILL FOLLOW!!
For the last two years I have been running these retarded MF's loads, they're working off of advances now a day's, but with them I and other driver's were stranded in Oregon cause no fuel money and permit, in California no fuel money and repairs, in the end the truck died on a hill in Macon GA I'm trying to get it over on the side of the road at 1 MPH, no power with a full 43,000 lbs load of Walmart juice headed to Orlando FL...
My back rib area was the size of a grapefruit from the truck shaking violently for the last month, but I'm a tough 50 year old ol skool !!!
So that was God's/ Ancestors/ angel's blessings and way telling me to let it go and time to move into your FREEDOM SUCCESS AND PROSPERITY!!!! I earned it, but it costs a lot of money, pain, anger, all that ####!!!
It's weird cause I am here and every day gets better and better and I'm happier and seeing more and learning more!!!
I'm appreciative for all of that and this!!! *ALSO, AS SOON AS I MADE THAT DECISION TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF MY LIFE, EVERYTHING STARTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN IN A GREAT WAY TO ME, EXAMPLE, MY BACK RIB INJURY IS HEALING SO FAST, WHILE GOING THROUGH THAT I FELT LIKE THAT COYOTE IN THE ROAD RUNNER CARTOON, THAT BIG THING FALLING ON YA HEAD, EXPLOSIONS, BUT NOW IT'S JUST JOY AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MY LITTLE 6YR OLD SON AND CAN'T WAIT FOR MY OWN NEXT LOAD THAT I'LL CHOOSE FOR MY COMPANY, NO MF TRYING TO GAME YOU, YOU GOTTA KEEP TOUR MOUTH ZIPPED CAUSE IF YOU CURSE THIS MF PIECE OF #### DUDE OUT OR BEAT HIS ### YA #### YA MONEY UP THAT YOU NEED TO KEEP GOING TO STACK TO WIN THE GAME!!!
SO #### HIM AND HIM AND WHO ELSE!!!
GAME OVER, I WIN!!! YOU ALL WIN, #### THEM ALL, ALL THE LEACHING #####ES, AND COMPANIES, ALL THE TRICKS, ETC!!
YOU'RE THE MAN NOW, BUT I DON'T WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANYONE, JUST DO MY OWN RED PILLED FREEDOM, HAVE FUN, MAYBE GET TO THAILAND , BAHAMA'S, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND #### SOME HOES HAVE A FEW DRINKS AND RELAX, TEACH MY SON BY LITTERALLY SHOWING HIM AND GET ME A LITTLE FARM CLOSE TO THE OCEAN AND EAT FRESH SEAFOOD, VEGGIES AND FRUITS AND KEEP UP MAINTENANCE AND DRIVE MY ####ING TRUCK!!!
PEACE OF MIND, POWER, AND PROSPERITY BROTHERS!!!!

That wouldn't be net, it would be gross. You still have all the expenses running the truck, insurance, fuel, etc etc etc.

Oh wow I honestly early meant gross earning. Thank you for catching that one...how awesome would that be huh. But yeah, with truck payment, trailer payment, insurance, fuel, maint, "taxes", etc, if I bring home even 1/3 of that I'm ahead. I have many self employed friends and know a few accountants that could help point me in the right direction with the financial ins and outs. The biggest obstacle I see is lining up deliveries...that will be a challenge I suspect. By the way I appreciate everyone listening to me think out loud.

So for picking loads...if you and the booking co agree on a price, what sort of paperwork do they need before you pick up the load? And how do you provide that info if your in the truck? Do you have a preassembled bi see of some kind that you can quickly email to them and then head to the destination?

They need to know who you are, if you are insured. Then they will send you a rate conformation stating the amount agreed upon and the address of picking and drop off location. They will also sent you information to get approved to carry for them. If you are real proficient with your computer you can do it from your truck or at the truck stop with fax machine. I would ask my wife to help or I would pay $20 to have a third party to speed things a long. That way I could go to the pickup sometimes things happen so I would rather be traveling than wasting time.

So much great info here! I can finance a new truck and trailer based on my credit/work history. I can get all tarps, chains&binders, moving blankets, bungees etc. My problem is knowing where to start. Start l.l.c, no problem, then it gets confusing. Do I find insurance THEN get dot, m.c # etc? I'm still working full time at my day job so I don't want to quit there and not have income for a month while I wait for #s to clear so I can cross state lines. I would like checklist and description of who, what, how to do said step. Is this posted here somewhere? Thanks all!

If I were you are you are certain you want to get into this business, I would research what equipment you want get it and then go lease on to a company for at the very least 6 months. You need to learn the business before you try to do your own numbers. Also zero experience in this biz your insurance will be very, very expensive.. 2 years is where the insurance companies start to give you a break.

Just remember if you finance that equipment, you are stuck with it for awhile, so pick your truck wisely.. The trailer isn't as big a deal because you can pay them off much faster than a $60k truck..

Look at the sticky posts there is a giant post up there will tons of info on hotshot stuff.. also look to youtube.. there are several good channels that you can learn from..
