Do people hate how you drive a 4 wheeler even more as a truck driver?

i actually DO drive any of my personal vehicles like...well..... an old man...always did (most of the times)

i'd sometimes "gas on it" if the "coast is clear". but, otherwise, was careful as i had to respect my CDL

i am NOT a good backseat driver however.

    if that's what the o/p means.......lol

and now, with a regular operator's license..??

    they'll never take me alive......!!

I can sense the hostility, from other cars, in a hurry. I get accused of tailgating, by the worse 2 tailgaters I know. I think they’re paying me back for my criticism. I defiantly do not tailgate. I can’t stand my wife’s driving, hit the gas hit the brakes. Transmission banging, makes me cringe. Occasionally I get crazy, and run 5 mph over speed limit. I always make sure someone around me is driving faster. Don’t need a ticket.

in earlier years, there wasn't that many oxen carts on the roads, when i was a teen. as the decades progressed, more and more people were buying, leasing, renting oxen carts.

for the past 2 to 3 decades now, people are rushed, harried more and more in thier daily lives. the job is a pain, ferrying the kids all over the place for the different after school activities, and ther personal errands have pushed many people into the aggressive driving/road rage we see.

it's like thier cars are their only "quiet place" and they get ticked off when ever anyone invades that space.

this is where all this hostility comes from, thier daily lives. as i have been retired now these past few months, believe me, i ain't in no hurry to get no place.

i either leave early (i always did), and i just take my time driving. i ain't no slouch, but i at least stay AT the speed limits, as i nary have any reason to go much above.

i actually many years ago, read an interesting article on todays drivers, and much of what i just said, was in that article.

pressures are all around people these days, that they snap all too quickly.

and those pressures are not all self inflicted.

listen to your spouse when he/she talks about how the job was that day, and you will see how anyone can be so aggravated......uh...like us truckers....eh..???

Your car driving friends may think you're never going to earn many points in the video game called "Driving" unless you narrowly escape death and destruction 8 times per mile. However, escaping 9 or more times per mile would be called dangerous by them. "My speed is just right. Everyone else is a moron (slower than me) or an idiot (faster than me).

Driving is a subconscious activity for car drivers. That's to say in the car, behind the wheel their primary focus is everything but driving. They drive with the part of their brain left over after all other activities they are doing or thinking about take their slice of the brain. Also they have been driving dangerously for so long it only seems dangerous if they drive extra dangerous on some day. But, since the rest of the world's driver actively avoid them, and they end the day without a neck brace & on an ER examine table they conclude their inattention is sufficient to keep being a safe driver.
