On the kidding side... gotcha beat, Ray... :)
    No Auto.
    No Governor.
    No Elogs.
    No Collision Mitigation System.
    No DEF.
New 470hp, Caterpillar.... Which leads to a hint as to what happened to the last driver. He screwed up bad.
Truck is a Kenworth with sleeper. Really sweet. Strong. Load to 87k. They hit it on the nose too.
The owner was having some personal problems. That may be the red flag. Which caused us to get going late yesterday. Spent the night in Bismarck.
Can definitely make money here. Definitely.

    dwells40 Thanks this.

Best of luck, WP! Maybe I'll run into ya out there somewhere. Hoping to get DOT phys one way or another tomorrow and be set for orientation 3.0 next Monday.

Yes. First job I don't need my CB.
Truck appears as though it was his last truck. (he drives a newer KW)
    Everything very well maintained.
Had a short on the right rear tail lights of trailer. He worked on that both nights while I was unloading. Got it fixed. Won't let things go.
It's a 20 wheeler. One set of tags on trailer.
I drove a 26 wheeler in Oil Field.
When I spoke of the middle size company in several states. I misunderstood him. That's who we work for. We're just a 3 truck operation. He lives here in same little town as me. Outside of Rapid City. Got that town's name on the truck. Hoping I can report to unemployment that the grant money for my Class A ended up benefitting a small SD company.
The pay on the Dickinson run works out to about $27 an hour. That's outstanding pay for SD.
I can bring my cat with me. She loves riding in trucks. Only problem is she hates riding in cars. Got to get her in the car to get her to the truck. Doh!
I'm seriously hoping this works out. Tough finding something like this here. Doing runs like I did in my first job. Only living here at home instead of a stinking truck stop in Denver. Having to stay out overnight only a couple nights a week.
No more FMCSA BS. Or an insecure Safety Department. I love dealing with DOT. Very down to earth. Wanting to help drivers. Not destroy them. Still have to enforce regulations. Common horse sense.
I'm seriously hoping this works out well. Maybe I was led to this and never realized it along my path?
I will always wish Magnum the best. Wonderful experience working there. Great people.

A lot of us roll with CBs in our trucks. I feel better having one than not. Don't want to be one of those Jb hunt, swift, etc drivers without one. Being able to communicate lanes and hazards makes me feel better. I just think freightliner drops the ball with the mounting location.

Not me, I don't use a CB. Thought about it, but after seeing the trainers CB and hearing all the jibberish, bull, nope, don't need it. Google does a good job on hazards, at least as far as how traffic is moving/ accidents/ construction.

    Lowlite Thanks this.

Google is good but nothing like instant info when you need it, especially with the winter months coming up on us. Cb can be very useful given where we run. It can be a pain to listen to, but it's the same noise as F-4's or B-52's...ya know it's there but ya pay no mind. Now, some of the apu's out here and old reefers, that takes some getting used to as well.

Exactly. I have no problem tuning it out or keeping it in low or squelch a little higher. To each their own. I never had a problem sleeping through the reefer units. Like a baby. Soon as my alarm goes off though, it wakes me up regardless. The power of training yourself to key sounds. Just like never training yourself to sleep in the seats.

We definitely use our CB’s. Talk to each other. On site talk to them.

I’m sitting in Hebron ND right now. Where they’re rebuilding the west bound I94. Waiting to unload. After 3 runs, he let me run on my own. Told this one place until further notice. Just go for it. As much as HOS will allow me. And rest. I could pull in $2k this week.
Told me I really know what I’m doing with that pneumatic tanker. I do.
Other driver called me today. Seems they have the same fear this might get goofed up somehow with me. We all really want it to work. O/O don’t need no more idiots.
