I'm getting close to go time on my numbers and I'm starting to second guess myself on my older truck. I've put a ton of time & money into the truck (05 F350) and it's kinda like finding things that need fixed never stop. I'm in the middle of rebuilding the front end now, ball joints, tie rods ect.. but when doing that on a 4wd it requires new axle seals which are almost $100 each side..
but wait there's more, because while doing it I realized one of the rotors was worn too much so I end up replacing both front rotors.. Had to replace a ABS wheel sensor.. I was under the back working on my air bags and notice the inside on one rotor is scared up.. pads are good but guess the inner side of the rotor was damaged from the previous own and he didn't replace it.. Then while doing the ball joints I find a oil leak that it didn't have after I did the head job.. (I been running the hell out of it trying to find #### and ####'it I'm finding ####)
I'm like GRRRR it's never ending, I thought I'd be finished with it all by now but it keeps coming and I haven't even started hauling with it yet.. The truck runs great, is dependable, but this nickle and dime #### isn't nickles and dimes it's $100 here $200 there... Anyway I'm really starting to second guess myself on this truck. I originally bought the truck for personal use and decided I'd use it to get started Hot Shotting because I had it and over all wasn't a bad truck... but it's a 05 and apparently many little things keep popping up.. It's all mostly stuff you expect to need to fix but #### is hard on you when you keep finding more and has me disheartened a bit with the truck and makes me think I can't 100% trust it.
Anyway, I knew of that Enterprise lease option that I've seen a lot of guys swear by.. The one in Indiana has a giant waiting list.. but I found a different location 2 hours from me that can put me in a truck the next day if I opted to do it.. It's actually a little better than the Indiana Enterprise set up , well at least for me. A few little differences..but it's still the same deal, pay the .22/mile and they cover all repairs, oil changes, fuel filters, tires ect..
So I'm curious.. is anyone here running the Enterprise trucks and if so do you recommend it, have you finished the miles on one and taken a 2nd? Would you continue with it?
Anyone running the Enterprise lease trucks?

I considered it and was on the waiting list for Indiana location and got a call to let me know I can come get the truck.
After a lot of consideration I opted to buy a new truck.
I pulled out all the seats to build a custom bed (back to front) and have storage space behind the driver seat. If I had to put it all back together every 60k miles and then redo it to a new truck I'd lose my mind.
Yeah they take care of the repairs but not stuff like tires. Imagine putting in a new tire 50k miles into your lease and then having to give it back.
My trailer got swiped by a big rig in a truck stop my first week and he bolted. No big deal, broke an $8 running light and peeled a reflective sticker. If I would have backed into my spot my truck would have been damaged, if it would have been just a dent I would have left it alone and been on my way but enterprise would have charged me for every scratch.
Do the math of what it would cost you to run a lease for a year. 100-120k miles and then realize you give it back and are left with nothing. I can pay off my truck in a year/year and a half and sell it for a nice chunk of change or at least have a trade in.
They wouldn't be leasing you a new truck if they didn't profit off of it, so why not pocket that profit and run on your own truck?
If I would have 100% finance on my truck I'd pay about a grand a month. Enterprise charges you about double that. A new truck won't have a grand worth of monthly repairs if you take care of it, throw that grand on the financing and pay off the truck quick. By the time you are up for major repairs you have already sold it or traded it in. -
The lease I looked at includes tires.. The only time they don't cover a tire is due to a blow out or a flat. The deal I was looking at was a bit different than the Indiana one.
It was a $4k deposit, then flat .22/mile everything included but fuel.. They put mud flaps on it, it comes with a goose neck set up, brake controller was installed, had a fire extinguisher, road triangles.. Hell even the DOT number is on the truck..
The $4k deposit was 100% deposit. Up in Indiana they kept $1,800 of it if I'm not mistaken as a set up fee. The big difference, was it wasn't a 60k lease, it was a year contract and you turn the truck in for a new 1 every 35k miles but turning it in ever 35 would be rough..
I really was not a fan of that, but on the flip side very little chance of tire issues or anything else in 35k miles.
I ended up not doing it though because it was going to raise my insurance cost almost $5k and I'd need a separate policy on the truck aside from my DOT insurance.. That kinda killed it to me so I'm sticking with my current truck..
If not for the massive jump in insurance cost I would have taken it.. -
Crocky how many miles on the 05? Which engine ? Starting out the nickel and dime stuff seems not so bad depending on the miles and the maintenance done and the type of engine. I am thinking your 6.0 powerstroke would be my concern. I ran my 7.3 for 586,000 miles then replaced the long block. I have 732,000 on truck as of today’s oil change. I have kept up maintenance and replaced all hubs rebuilt transmission, rebuilt turbo etc. but had it since new it is dependable. Starting out you need to build your reputation with your truck. I think you instinctively know that and is why you are inquiring about leasing a truck. By the time I started I owned the truck and no payments is a better way to go. In you situation it is not a option IMO. A new truck payment and new Carrier Insurance payment is something that would hold a lot of people back, and rightfully so. I have seen a few guys find trucks from people getting out of the business and do just find. I have also seen guys try to buy trucks to get started and have to get out because of breakdowns. One thing is sure you will have breakdowns. The faster you over come the breakdowns the longer you will stay in business.
singlescrewshaker and crocky Thank this. -
All the brakes are new, I just finished rebuilding the front end and still need to get it to an alignment shop.. but it's still stupid ####.. I've been running it hard since I did the heads trying to find any possible thing that can go wrong...
While doing the front end I saw a new oil leak.. just finished up the front end a brakes yesterday/today so haven't had a chance to sort that... but it's always just one more thing...
I had to replace a ABS sensor because the light was on, did it with the front end stuff.. light went out.. now next day the #### light is back.... getting a code for the abs pump now...then I have a turbo code..
The turbo is working fine, but it is letting some oil blow by so I know I need to rebuild or replace the turbo... It just never ends and I haven't even started hauling yet..
Overal the truck is awesone just driving around, but Im just scared about running all day under load day in and out because thats a whole diffrent thing.
Unfortunately the lease truck combined with seperate policy on the truck and my MC insurance was just too much down...
The lease truck was $4k Securty deposit the seperate policy for the truck was $1,2k down then the MC# insurance was $2,3k down.. So $7,5k in down payments compared to just $2,3k to run the 05 so I'm just going to run with the 05.
It's a bit frustrating but I'm going to have to limit myself to more regional stuff or maybe do some auction runs locally until I can move into a diffrent truck or I fully trust this one.
I have extreemly good credit, but honestly, I screwed off a bit too long and don't have any income to show the banks this year so far as if I wanted a loan even on a newer used truck.. So have to wait till I can show income again.Last edited: Sep 27, 2019

Anyway, lease a truck from enterprise for a little over a year and a half and you could have bought it and sold it and return some of your investment for a down payment on the next one.
