That’s my only concern with joining NFI here in Central NY. .40cpm to start out right out of school. That’s for the local positions. They do offer extra pay for medium and short hauls though, which is nice, to make up for the lack of miles for those particular runs.

It’s been a little over 1 year with this company and I’m on my way out.

I’ve told them time and time again how sick and tired I am of working “for free”.

Now my paycheck for last week is missing $700...for 5 days PTO that I submitted and was approved. Being OTR I hadn’t even used the insurance to see a doc for a wellness check, have my teeth teeth cleaned and see an eye doc for new glasses.

I had sent my DBL 2 emails And spoke on the phone to him regarding my concern that the PTO would hit my pay this week. He assured me it would. Well it didn’t

Oh ... and those approved expenses that should’ve hit my check 2 weeks ago aren’t paying till next week.

I am seething at the moment and after sending emails to all the “bosses’” and leaving voice mails last night.

I let them know I’m not moving and taking this relay it’s final 16 miles till I hear from them and get this resolved.

Right! I opted for a M-F gig, home on Saturday -Sunday (my family needs me lol) SALARY and more money should mileage exceed 2k.

I’m gonna miss OTR tho. And hope to return to it. I had 3 really nice offers pulling reefer long haul...

I can't even do a week out. I've been running a linehaul and yesterday when I was taking my daughter to school she asked where my beard went...I cut it off Sunday. That sealed it for me, home day is the only way to do it, I'm not gonna miss out on family. I've been local home everyday as long as I've been driving (19 years) and just recently started taking longer runs that put me up in a hotel but I'm done with it now.

Won’t catch me OTR. Especially starting out. These companies are so cheap. You expect me to be away from my family for weeks at a time for $.38 a mile? No thanks! I also pay for my home, I’d like to be able to spend time in it.

I’m researching local jobs in my area. A lot hire new drivers, which I was surprised by.

It's a myth that you have to "do your time" for a year otr. I've never done it and 99.9% of the guys I have ever worked with haven't either.

Haha well I fell for that myth hook, line and sinker! That being said, I like OTR more than I don’t And it certainly helped me start building a skill set.

Most OTR drivers I know make crap money for being away from home for so long.
