DEF filters, the crappy fuel, the goobermental beancounting ECM tunes that the dealers and manufacturers have to put in the trucks before they sell them.

It's akin to training to run a 4 minute mile, but on race day, finding out that you have to breathe through a straw, yet still finish in 4 minutes.

EDIT: The worst thing is, the factory will set the truck to run at 500HP. Some mega carrier beancounter will think he can do better with his ECM tune and will detune the engine to 430 HP. The truck is sick and anemic. Always in the shop. They dont care...they're getting rid of the thing in a couple years anyway. This is why you don't buy an old fleet truck.

 

That's what I mean. Uncork a modern engine and let it play against a turned up older engine. See how they stack up.

 

I agree, if you can build good torque and horsepower being choked down how would they run opened up?

 

Wife's sister is getting married tomorrow. I've been tasked with cooking this. It went in last night about 8:30. Should be done tomorrow around 3:00.
