The terminal manager I spoke to today told me that they're starting to try and reduce deadhead miles by concentrating more on reloads for the out and backs. So you may be doing a one day layover so you can come back loaded instead of empty and get the higher rate, as well as layover pay.

Pretty good chance you'll be doing the road test in an auto since they're transitioning the fleet to that. But if not, there's no harm in asking your tester.
