I guess I need some advise here. Last Wednesday my room mate brought a recovered truck back to WVC from New York. When he had the inspection done they tagged it for a broken exhaust and leaking coolant. His dash lights has came on at the 215 belt out of Parleys Canyon. They told him the truck was going to a L/O anyways so just sit tight. We stayed at my relatives house in Park City to see what was up. He called his person at WVC and she told him he probably wouldn't get anything because of the 4th of July weekend because she is off and won't be calling him. So on Saturday he decided to go back home to Las Vegas to wait it out. I'm still here in Park City visiting family, but had to go to WVC to pick up some stuff he forgot in a locker. I noticed the trucks out front being loaded with stuff and people taking them. I called him and he said those are for the L/O's only. He called his person at WVC again yesterday and she told him there isn't a truck for him yet. Now we are going on a week here and I find it hard to believe this is happening.
My question is: Since he left and went home did that maybe worsen his chances of getting a truck sooner. He is #3 on the list for a truck. If he is jerking around and just taking time off I'd rather be home in Vegas than waiting here. The weather is nicer here sure, and I'm fishing and hiking; but there is something to be said about being in your own environment and bed.
I'm only concerned because we share the bills and I'm also suppose to go out with him on this next run. If he is screwing his chances by being in Vegas, I'm just going to pack up and go to Vegas too.
What is the concensus here? I've posted a few times and asked for advise and it's always been dead on. Thanks.

I would stay and offer to retrieve a truck that has been abandoned, operate the shuttle bus and any other work that they can give me till a truck company truck can be found. Offering to do this shows them that you are trying to help out the team in any way you can.

My partner is Jolly Roger...pretty sure you've two have met. And no, his FM doesn't work for him. He tells him that there isn't anything available. Twice we got stuck for a few days waiting on a load or sitting with a load. He would give him loads that required long dead heads. It put Jolly in the hole last month because he is leasing. It scared him so much that he talked me out teaming with him and into keeping my job. He's gotten into tiffs with his FM and nothing changed. It just seems crazy to be at the mercy of an FM. If your leasing with Central, it's not like you can make up the lack of miles by picking up loads from somewhere else, so you need to get the miles from them. If they don't give you the miles, yeah, they'll pick up your payment, but as soon as you get more miles, they pay themselves back, and you're back in the hole again. So that is why I was hoping to find out if it was his FM or not. Like I've said before, I heard that the FM were given the loads by the planners, so that there wasn't anything the FM could do, so changing ur FM wouldn't change anything. I dunno, my window for getting ready to team with him is closing in on me, and it seems like this lease has him much like a share cropper - he'll only make as much as he needs to cover their needs, but never enough to get out from under.

JJ leases and has done so for over a year!!

It is the FM and as a L/O he can more easily request a new FM then say a company driver can.

JJ averages 3000-3200 a week with his manager as a Solo Driver, some weeks it is less some more.

The miles are there you just have to have an FM who works with you and take short or very little hometime.

He doesn't have a guy named John for a FM does he?????

soory if i came off as a pr**k on my first post, but my feelings have gone unchanged, yes i understand what ya`ll use this fourm for. but its over 300 pages and 80% of it has no info on what people need, no one wants to read thru 300+ pages to get a few answers. Iam not a supertrucker, nor am I inexperenced, been driving truck since i was 18
and came on to central as a lease operator, so i can train. and all my students mentioned to me about how useless this fourm was for them. so i know iam not the only one, iam jsut the only one out of the masses that has the balls to say what needs to be said.

You and others may find it completely useless. Fine. Myself and others find it informative and/or entertaining. Just because you find it useless, there's no reason to deride the rest of us.

Granted, 300+ pages is a bit daunting if you're a newcomer starting from the beginning. I think here were less then 150 pages when I started reading this thread and it took me a few days (small stretches at a time) to get caught up.

I'm in WVC waiting for the obligatory inspection and will be here til tomorrow if anyone wants to chat.

There are more then just this one thread about Central so if they or you have a problem with it then go to one of them, now let us get on with what we do.

Everything that has ever been asked in here has been answered at least twice, but if you don't ask us your question its not our problem if you don't get your answer.

(I don't believe a word of what he said)
