I find no info on this but is there sequence that will display inactive fault codes.
Like by cycling key on and off a number of times or ?? To make a telltale light blink inactive fault codes.
    Thanks for any info

I've driven few Volvos and I don't know any trick to show inactive fault codes, also I don't believe there is any method available. Only way to find out I've known for years is to hook up computer with diagnostic software and read them out.

This is the only way some dashes let you see inactive fault very rarely on new truck but if the dash does not show it there is no blink codes on volvo there hasnt been any since 2004.

    UPDATE
Took truck to dealer $360.00 to get inactive codes read
Haven’t researched yet but wanted to post see if any input from the forum specialists

Dealers only recommendation was 7- 8 k for remove trans and tear down for inspection. Then parts and labor to put back together and reinstall. Potential 9-20 k for repair and may or may not fix problem. All they could do was guess that it was my intermittent “ dead pedal” problem.

    Codes were:

Trans ECU mid130 psid 24 fmi1 —- range engagement data valid but “below” operational range. 1 inactive fault

Trans ECU mid 130 PSID 24 Fmi 0 —- range engagement data valid but “above” operational range. 11 inactive faults

Radio mid206 sid254 controller 1 fmi4 voltage below normal or shorted to lower voltage

    That’s all for now

Now you have a starting place. Swap out transmission harness. Inexpensive ($300 ish). Not that labor intensive as far as harness replacement goes. I have done several for datalink failure. Even if it happens to be worst case scenario (transmission TCU failure) replacing the harness would be something you should do anyway.

Ok thanks for the advice. I will check into it. Still have to research the codes to find out what that “range” description means. But new harness could be worth trying.

    I shift. Bad trans.
That’s what the dealer thinks but said it still might not fix problem. Most of what I researched about the inactive codes for out of range are leaning towards the ribbon cable in the trans. 20 k is slot of money to throw at a “possible” problem.

Can the ribbon harness be done with trans in truck and doghouse removed.
Does it need recalibration with the Volvo software program after ribbon cable is replaced?
